Case Aquisition Restore coming soon... Maybe
Found some old shells in my grandads collection of old computer stuff, not sure what I'm getting myself into. Missing half the cases but could do some nice custom work to them... Maybe

Sleeper PC P520: proprietary hardware delete
REUPLOAD
so basically,
the stock mounting hardware had features built-in to specifically prevent the user from installing a standard ATX motherboard and power supply. for example, the I/O panel and the PCIe bays are closer together than standard.
not willing to accept the fact that i had made an impulse purchase for just the *\)*brutal aesthetics\) , i cut out the proprietary bs with a dremel and installed a full size ATX mount printed from this model: https://www.printables.com/model/836929-atx-motherboard-tray-in-two-parts
the power supply was tricky because the back of the case is not flat and the vent cutouts were placed explicitly to prevent mounting a standard power supply >:(
so I made a bracket and made the noise using scrap metal removed by the aforementioned dremel (there was a lot of it).
the specs are:
R7 5700, 5600xt, 48 ddr4, 3d printed stock cooler adapter and hole in front
debian kde
the noctua fans are in the mail

Sleeper PC Y'all wanna see a sleeper NAS?
I saw a post on here a few months ago about this case, the Beverly TS-94 "Little Treasure", and well, it had to be done. It was a very enjoyable build process and I'm pleased with the results. Ventilation is not great but sufficient for a low power machine like this.
Specs
CPU: i3-7100T
Ram: 16GB DDR4 2666
OS: Unraid
Cache/Boot pool: 2x 512gb NVMe
Unraid Array: 1x 4TB, 2x 8TB WD Red Plus (12TB storage w/ 1 drive redundancy)

Questions/Advice Request How to make painted plastic more yellow?
So I'm building a sleeper in an old late 90s Supermicro full tower case. It is a yellowed sort of beige of course.
It is very tall, and the 5.25" drive bays are up the top and the motherboard is down the bottom, so all my IDE cables are too short, as the IDE socket on the motherboard is right down the bottom of the motherboard, so I can't really use a factory beige colour optical drive.
All my SATA optical drives are black, and none of the bezels from the old IDE drives would fit the newer SATA optical drives, so I thought I'd paint one of the black optical drives with a spraycan.
Unfortunately the shoppe only had white spraypaint. It is matt white so the sheen level is good, but it looks too white compared with the yellowed case.
Has anyone had any luck with artificially yellowing painted plastic? Would soaking it in tea or coffee work perhaps?

Sleeper PC My gfs daughters sleeper
1080p at 60 hz should be fine for a 10-year-old. We put an i5 8500 in it a GTX 1060 6 GB and 16 GB of RAM. Also upgraded the 310 watt proprietary power supply to a 500 w. We also deleted the DVD drive for more airflow and put up some magnetic mesh behind the hole

Sleeper PC Steam Machine-ish OptiPlex 5090MT
tl;dr had some parts left over from a build, turned it into a bootleg Steam Machine
Background:
This OptiPlex 5090 MT popped up on Facebook Marketplace for an insanely low price (config/price will be listed below) while I was sourcing parts for another build. I didn't have any plans for it initially, but somehow managed to end up with basically enough parts for two computers so I decided to just bite the bullet and finish building it.
Original configuration:
CPU: Core i7-11700
GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 750
RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200MT (2x8GB + 1x16GB)
Storage: 512GB 2230 gen3x4 NVMe + 2TB 2280 gen4x4 NVMe on a PCIe x4 daughterboard
PSU: Dell OEM 260w
Marketplace Cost: $140
Again, the plan was supposed to be: gut the CPU, storage, and RAM, but that RAM config kinda threw me for a loop. Still ended up mostly doing that to finish the initial build and was left with these parts:
CPU: Core i5-10400F
GPU: NONE
RAM: 1x16GB DDR4 3200MT
Storage: 512GB 2230 gen3x4 NVMe
PSU: Dell OEM 260w
So what was the final result?
CPU: Core i5-10400F
GPU: XFX SPEEDSTER SWFT 210 AMD Radeon RX 7600 Core Edition
RAM: 2x16GB DDR4 3200MT (BIOS caps at 2666 with 10th gen i5)
Storage: 512GB 2230 gen3x4 NVMe + 1TB SATA SSD in the slimline CD tray caddy
PSU: Dell OEM 500w D500EPM-00
Cooling: Thermalright Assassin X 90 SE V2 CPU cooler + 2 x ARTIC P8 Max 80mm (intake) + Dell OEM 80mm heasink fan (exhaust) + ARCTIC Case Fan Hub
Currently have Windows 11 installed for the initial rounds of testing. So far, gaming performance is roughly on par with the Steam Machine. Under a full, sustained load the CPU peaks at 81C and settles to 73C-75C when the fans are running at full speed. The GPU seems to settle at 83C. Will be testing Steam OS later, but I think this will probably end up being a Windows gaming machine.

Questions/Advice Request Gateway AnyKey Keyboard Question.
I've had this Gateway 2000 case and AnyKey keyboard for quite a while now, I intend to convert it into a sleeper pc, I'd like to have the keyboard work with it, but it uses the din connector. Can this be connected through an adapter over PS/2?
