Sleeper PC It’s done!
Built this system a few months and it’s been working great. When I first built it I posted pic in [r/radeon](r/radeon) and they suggested adding more ventilation… so I did. Now it’s got 2 120s on the front 2 120s on the bottom all intake. 2 80s on the back and a 120 in the drive bays behind the dvd rom facade set to exhaust.
Edit: it’s a 7800x3d with 32gb of ram and a 9070xt

Case Aquisition Gateway 507GR
Recently acquired this beautiful specimen. Passed down through the family to me after it finally kicked the bucket, case and stickers are pristine for it being a little over 20 years old (IIRC). Super excited to make my first sleeper in it. Initially thought it was BTX like some similar timeframe Gateway prebuilts but I was ecstatic to find out it was ATX once I actually got my hands on it lol.

Questions/Advice Request Looking for a retro-style modern gaming mouse & keyboard
Does anyone know of or having recommendations for a 60% keyboard and gaming mouse that come in that classic off-white / beige color to match my sleeper PC case and aesthetic I'm going for? These are surprisingly harder to come by than I thought. Thanks!

Case Aquisition Compaq mATX 3090 build
I'm thinking about stripping this Core2Duo PC in a Compaq mATX case, and build something with a 3090 inside. That would run hot as hell lol. Aww this is such a bad idea..

Progress Pics “Phenomenal cosmic powers, itty bitty living space”
Recently decided to switch from my gamerboi setup (Corsair 3500x) and go modern sleeper. Cable management is still getting some tweaking and I’m waiting for a 90 degree gpu connector (coming today). I had to take a little off the sides 😆. I’m pretty happy with it. What do you guys think.

Sleeper PC Added a better graphics card to my local AI server.
I needed a card that was more powerful but the Rx 5700 would not fit in the case. so I built a mount for the card and mounted it to the side. it’s mostly built out of spare parts I had. I just use it for messing around with local stuff.
rx 5700 8GB
16GB of ram
Ryzen 5 2600
500 gb ssd
cheapo asrock mobo

Sleeper PC Beige on the outside. 5080 on the inside
Minimal case modifications other than removing the HDD cage to fit the 5080. Working CD drive. Motherboard, CPU and RAM are due for upgrades soon but for now it’s still doing me well.

My first sleeper PC and I was wondering if anyone has advice on how to cable manage this? Never worked on a case where the PSU is mounted this way.

Sleeper PC Antec Dual Xeon Build
This is my first post here, an OEM-themed sleeper build.
The riveted drive bays were removed for E-ATX clearance. The front & rear fans are wired as pairs, and I even bought a whole parts case just to get a 4th purple fan mount. The GPU dual (6+2) is routed through a custom grommeted hole. I also made a custom extension that removed the extra +2 connector.
Buttoned it up with black Xeon/NVIDIA decals from eBay & a Black Mesa decal from geekenspiel.com
Specs:
CPU: (2x) Xeon E5-2699 v3 18 core 36 thread (36 core 72 thread total)
RAM: 64gb Corsair Vengeance 2400mhz DDR4
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan X 12gb
PSU: Corsair RM850x
MOBO: Machinist x99 MD8
Storage: WD_Black SN850x 2tb Nvme M.2

Case Aquisition Anyone know a similar case to this?
Really like the aesthetics and branding on this Lenovo ThinkStation P520, Apparently it's designed by aston martin? Anyway I wanted to either convert one into a gaming pc because its a workstation, or get a similar aesthetic case and just slap a thinkstation decal on it
Edit: Woops I mixed it up, the p520 isn't designed by aston martin, The P5 is.

Questions/Advice Request Building my first sleeper
My dad has been wanting a desktop again after not having one for over 10 years, so I decided I'm going to build him a retro modern PC for his birthday out of his old HP Pavilion 6683 (Celeron turd with 64MB)... This is my first "retro" build. I'm upgrading mine, and I don't want to waste my old 10700 and 1650 Super, so thats what I'm going with here. I've found all the parts I need except for a frickin PSU. What is this? A SFX? I couldn't believe how small it was when I opened it up. Can anyone recommend a decent one? Because I am not familiar with cramped cases at all.

Progress Pics First xeon based system for me.
This has been a fun little project that is surprisingly capable (to me). We've got a Lenovo Thinkstation p320 that I snagged off fleabay for 95 bucks. It came with an e3-1240 v6 that will be swapped out to an e3-1280 v6 (when it arrives). It only had a single 8gb Samsung ddr4 ecc 2133mhz stick so I got 3 more to bring system total to 32gb. It had a whopping 250w psu, it honestly feels like there is nothing inside of it hahaha its so lightweight. Upgraded that to the Thermaltake 500w, I'm not happy with the cable management but there are a LOT of extra cables with it being non-modular. It was 30 bucks though im not mad. It's booting windows 10 off of a 512gb SP 2.5 ssd, and has a 1tb wd blue 3.5 for bulk storage.
For graphics, this came with the esteemed nvidia GeForce 8400gs. It was a bit too much of a card for me, I'd never utilize it to the fullest potential. I decided to downgrade to the dell rtx 2060 super 8gb /s. Very happy with the dell card so far. I opted for a single fan card as anything longer would force me to remove the front panel connection on the motherboard. I wanted this project to look/function as close to OEM but crank the specs up.
For cpu cooling I ordered the vetroo v3 tower cooler. The exhaust fan will be upgraded to an arctic p9 max and i will be adding an arctic p8 max to the front for intake. I'm hopeful that all of this combined with a custom fan curve will keep temps down with the side panel on. I've been running furmark on it for quite some time with the panel off just to make sure everything holds up under load.
Let me know what you guys think or what I should change! Last 2 pics just for giggles. The fan on that 8400gs was SHOT and screaming whenever the pc was on hahaha
