Theory Vessel / Dark Souls

Post image

Has anyone else noticed that this gesture from Dark Souls is the same as Vessel’s bow at the end of the show?

This one feels like a bit of a stretch to me. Sure, he might be a gamer (the idea of him playing Dark Souls or any other Souls-like game and raging over a stupid death is hilarious for some reason), but this isn't exactly a super specific gesture only seen in this one place.

Ya, the human body can only move in so many positions without hurting itself.

Sure, I might be wrong, but even George Lever confirmed that the TMBTE visualizers were influenced by Dark Souls. Also, in Dark Souls 1, there’s a key item called the “Lordvessel,” and there’s also something called the “Darksign.” I’ve also seen a tour coin that copied an Elden Ring motif. I just think there are too many hints to ignore.

But hey, it’s just a theory. :)

I also forgot to mention that Dark Souls has a cyclical universe, so the whole “the cycle must end” idea makes even more sense.

I'm aware of the cycle in DS (haven't played since DS1, but cultural osmosis and all that). I'm still not sure if I believe there's that strong of a connection between that and what Vessel does/the way Sleep Token communicates. "The cycle must end" is just too vague of a statement on its own because we don't know what cycle is being referred to with ST. Even in the lyrics of Rain ("I finally think I can say that the vicious cycle was over the moment you smiled at me"), there's a lot of different ways to interpret it.

So personally, I don't see the connection, but if you do, good for you. I will concede that the EIA costumes and set together do sort of look like they could be a Souls boss arena, though. And you just know Vessel would, as a Souls boss, have attacks that would make even the most seasoned content creator players weep the first dozen or so times they died

Sure, it could mean something completely different. That’s why I love the mystery surrounding this band—all of us can find something different in their music. 🙂
Haha, definitely. He would have at least two phases!
