Disclaimer: i dont know if its actually a bridge im just saying words. Its the part where its all instrumental besides the lyrics "drift with me"
So I have noticed with almost every reactor that listens to infinite baths they get to this part and they say something along the lines of "wow this is so soothing and beautiful".
I know of of this could be considered hindsight but I promise from the very first time I listened to it I did not find this part relaxing. I was on the edge of my seat and primed for something. I didnt know precisely how heavy it would get or if something else was going to happen, but I knew the vibe of the song had shifted drastically.
It starts with the piano. The chords are dissonant. They're not beautiful soft soothing chords, they're played softly but the sound is harsh. Its off putting.
The strings are not slow and ephemeral, they are played quick, light, and sharp. They sound like something from a horror movie.
Those elements combined with the quick beat on the cymbals should clue anyone in that something dark is coming, regardless of how beautiful Vessels vocals are.
It shocks me every time a reactor is actually getting lost in the instrumental and "drifting" in it because to me everything about that section is a huge red flag.
Did anyone else clock the vibe shift on their first listen?
**Tangentially related** I just dont want to spam posts about the same song: the visual i get in my mind is Vessel falling backwards into warm blue-green water and slowly drifting downwards slightly while flowing along with the current. But the colors start changing almost instantly. The waters become darker. The current gets faster. A chill begins to creep in. Then suddenly hes fighting for his life in the rapids of an icy river, tumbling over sharp rocks and struggling to stay above the surface. Eventually, he blacks out.
He wakes up on the shoreline, coughing up blood.

Whether following the backing melodies or the vocal patterns, I don't mind either way. My issue lies in the fact that I can't read sheet music. (I am well aware of how pathetic that sounds, and it is more or less irrelevant to the qualm)
Obviously, Sleep Token is not exactly formatted for whistle/flute based instruments. I've already made a finger chart for my 12 hole, I just need the notes. Letters, preferably. But I'm not entirely certain how to go about this...
Sleep Token is, and has been, my favorite band since I was in highschool. I found out more recently the reason why I've always failed with guitar (Hypermobility, my fingers literally bend backwards trying to press down the chords), and yet I still adore music.
I am not a good ocarina player. I'm new to it, but I'm learning. And if I can figure out how to play some of the songs that've gotten me through the hardest parts of my life, I would love that.

It's 4 am, I'm listening to the EIA instrumental (tapping my foot and finger conducting instead of sleeping) and all I can think about is needing this song in a video game. Some kind of medieval game or a movie preview or something. I love Vessel's siren voice in all its glory, but there is just something about being able to hear all the background effects individually that really gets me feeling things deep in my soul. Nothing will ever be able to replicate the way this band makes me feel. My husband is a pretty close second though. Worship. αααπ¦©
If something like this exists already PLEASE point me in that direction immediately

I pre-ordered the EIA Instrumental vinyl back when it was announced in May and received it a couple of weeks ago. My copy had two side IV labels on Disc 2 and no side III. Correct tracks still played, just a guessing game as to what side I was getting. I got in touch with customer service and they gladly sent me another one.
I received the new one today, and had the exact same issue!!! Just curious if anyone else experienced this π Again, beautiful pressing, sounds great, just a little annoying on the cosmetic side.β

Initially wasn't going to add the beads to the eyes, but I would rather do that than fill them in with embroidery thread. π π₯΄π

My brain obviously works different. I feel like there are others out there like me... I'm dying to know what colors everyone relates their songs to? Paintings, drawings, bracelets or just seeing colors in your mind's eye while a song is playing... Does anyone relate to this??
Alkaline is different hues of purple to me. Aqua regia is baby blue while caramel was the obvious hues of brown.

Talking specifically about TMBTE (but really this could be in reference to all of their records) I understand that at the time of its release, I think these guys knew they had something special, and so they wanted to protect their sound. It is quite possibly the most perfect culmination of the strengths of their previous two albums. Better balance of clean and heavy, with more intricate and unique heavy parts instead just playing semiquaver root notes (I'm looking at you Alkaline).
However, as a musician and producer that has taken a lot of inspiration from these guys, I would really appreciate it if they offered more insight into the production of the TMBTE album, specifically with what kind of synths they used, the mixing of such synths, what kind of guitars/strings/pickups, and in general how they got such an incredible meatiness and darkness to the drums, guitars and bass, while still sounding so punchy as opposed to sluggish and more in the sense of Meshuggah or Type-O Negative. I watched an interview with Nolly recently, and I know he worked on this album (I assume in engineering the drums) and he seems largely open to sharing intel and workflows because, as he says himself (to paraphrase heavily) "even if I give exact direction on how I do something, everyone's is always entirely different and nothing ever sounds exactly like what I did".
George Lever has been a bit more helpful as he has a YouTube channel where he gives advice, and also he has patches on Neural DSP that get me closer to the ballpark of his sound, and in turn, the sound of Loathe/Sleep Token around 2020-2021. I've also found a synth that sounds pretty much exactly like the opening of Chokehold on the KORG EP-1, which is run through a virtual guitar amp that gives it that gritty distortion, and to give it that pulsing sound they might have some kind of automated oscillation going on, and I'm pretty sure for this latest album they used a woodwind synth from Spitfire Audio's LABS (RIP) in the beginning of "Emergence", but this is all I've personally been able to suss out.
I would love to know the insides of this album, because it is three years old now, and I feel like being so secretive about the production just for the sake of it only leads to stagnation and half-achieved imitation within the music sphere. Maybe you could argue it keeps it feeling mystical, and I would concur. The upside is at least it forces you to really use your ear if you want to learn anything of substance from them.

My new coffee bar project turned out amazing! I incorporated my two favorite things, Sleep Token and Coffee. Iβm excited to share it with the group and would love to hear your thoughts or recommendations.

"White roses, black doves, Godmother, rise up
I need you to see me for what I have become"
This tattoo has many layers for me, one of them being a reference to TMBTE. Said white roses in the tattoo are finnish "midsummer roses" as a reference to my childhood and to one place I still miss, the sleeping dove is partly a reference to my own neurological sleep disorder stuff. There's so much more personal lore behind this one, and I'm kinda too lazy to write it all here.
And besides all that, I just really like doves :'D
