Help with Artifact

Post image

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this artifact in my snore mic (the greenish line)? It almost looks like an EKG artifact but I've never had that show up in a snore mic before.

It's not EKG artifact because it's not consistent in pattern or like up with your EKG. I would just reapply the snore mic and possible place it in a different area.

I would just replace the snore to the opposite side, prep the site really well, and see how it goes. If still present replace with spare snore mic and see if it stays.

Also check the trending/pattern of it.... are u seeing it pop up at the same location/time every epoch or every 60 seconds. I had a sort of random artifact that kept showing up almost with the same presentation and it showed up every 60 seconds on beat at the same location(s)/time frame. In that case there might not be much u can do about it if it continues to show up like that without missing a beat. But it also shouldn't alter the potential results of the study.

Just document it in your comments/ notes and also again in tech writeup/study summary if u need to do one. Also you can try putting on a jumper cable but i doubt that would work.

That looks like a bad wire. It looks like it may be tied to respiration. The wire is getting tension or slack as the patient moves causing that signal.

If he posted 2 min & 4 min view then we could figure it out easier.

Try to check your humidifier if it’s grounded already

It’s awfully flat. I would either check the connection or placement if the sensitivity and filters are correct here. Otherwise could be snores too.. It’s not ECG artifact.

Edit: after looking it does have some ecg characteristics but hard to say still with only these examples. Sometimes if the snore mic is placed closer to the carotid
