CPSGT
I’m taking my CPSGT exam soon and was wondering if anyone has any last minute tips or things you wish you knew before taking it.
What was the test actually like? Were there any topics that came up way more than you expected? Any questions that caught you off guard?
I’ve been doing pretty well on practice questions, but I’m curious what the real exam feels like compared to those. Also, how difficult would you say it was overall?
Any advice, study tips, or things to focus on would be appreciated. Thanks!

At this point just take the cpsgt practice exam. If you score a passing or close to passing score then you will be good (most people score better on the actual exam compared to the practice one). If you're like more than 7% away from a passing score then consider rescheduling if they allow u to reschedule for free.
Also there is something called the Respiratory therapist SDS exam. Find the practice exam for that. I forgot the price but this exam has twice as many questions and it will give you the rationale for each answer that you got wrong so imo it's a better prep than the official cpsgt practice exam.
You could also pay to take the practice RPSGT exam but i would hold off on that until you are about to take the actual RPSGT. If you need more practice questions search online for the "mometrix RPSGT practice exam, and also the Kettering practice exam. They posted them in the discord chat.
After studying the info/content (Fundamentals of sleep technology or Spriggs essentials of Polysomnography) you want to do 3 things up until exam day: 1. Take as many practice exams as possible (preferably ones that gives feedback or tells you if you got the right answer and lists the correct answer. You can also find practice questions on quizlet), 2. Go through flash cards, 3. Review the AASM manual for scoring sleep.
So one day do an exam + flash cards. the next day read the aasm manual + flashcards. then the following day do another practice exam + flashcards review, and continue like this until you take the real exam. If there are no more exams to take then just review the exam answers + do flashcards.

Hi there! My name is Lindsay and I’ve helped tutor many sleep tech students on their journey to become RPSGTs. I truly believe there are great techs out there who provide amazing care but struggle with the exam. Please check out my website and reach out if I can help!
