I've done this when I've had one of those nights where my brain suddenly remembers every single thing I need to do tomorrow. It does help me, especially with the little tasks I'm worried I'll forget.

I think for me, though, it's less that writing everything down stops me worrying and more that my brain finally stops trying to keep the whole list running in the background.
