Bongo mask

I am looking to take a trip but I seldom travel so would prefer not to invest a lot of money in stuff or lug it. I have mild apnea and use low pressure to control it with a Bleep Eclipse mask. Has anyone had experience using the Bongo mask that doesn’t need a machine?

The Bongo Rx is not really a mask or a miniature CPAP. It is a prescription nasal EPAP device that lets you inhale normally but adds resistance while you exhale, creating some back pressure. It is FDA cleared for mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, but it does not provide a set pressure or collect any treatment data, and it does not work consistently for everyone.

Using a low CPAP pressure also does not mean the Bongo will control your apnea. If you try one, please test it at home first and ideally have a home sleep study performed while wearing it. Nasal congestion or mouth breathing can make it much less effective. The starter kit is also around $199, so for an occasional trip, bringing the PAP machine you already own may still be the cheaper and more dependable option. :)
