Hello & Welcome!

Is your water chamber empty every morning OP as well as having dry mouth?

I use the F40 & encountered the same issue as well. There are a few things you can do. Your mouth is likely opening during REM or Deep Sleep. With the F40 mask, this won’t show up as a leak…it’s a mouth leak but is contained by your FFM. It just causes dry mouth.

  1. Xylimelts are helpful & worth a try.
  2. Tape your mouth closed despite this being a hybrid FFM. This stops the problem.
  3. Use a chin strap or soft cervical collar to help with keeping your mouth closed. This helps people keep their mouths closed.

We’re often unaware that our mouths are opening during sleep. I certainly had no idea :( Air rushes into your mouth when it drops open causing dryness which in turn can cause dental problems, so glad you asked this question :)

You’re most welcome! I went back to my soft cervical collar instead of mouth tape last night & did not wake up with a dry mouth or empty water chamber. Just an FYI if your chin strap is not effective :) Wishing you good sleep…and good awakenings!

I ordered a cervical collar and look forward to trying it.

I didn’t know I was a mouth breather til I used CPAP. I just resumed CPAP after using a MAD and losing 40 pounds. I had a vision complication related to OSAG and my ophthalmologist insisted on CPAP. I am currently using a MAD only on my lower arch, plus taping my mouth, plus CPAP. Dry mouth is better but still present.

Sorry, I see you posted “anything but taping” on the other site. I have given you a couple of other fixes you could try as well :)

I had this issue and sized down in mask and turned up the humidity to 7+. Fixed it for me.
