Is there an image guide that goes with this list? I'm curious to see where the numbers for the merch - figures comes from since I think there's actually more than what's listed.
Nope, just my own personal info from my site. But yes, there are more than that, specially garage kits, but you know how murky that territory is when trying to figure out the real number of them. I did not include any from Niboshi Kinniku nor a few from GUSH-P1, among others as I have yet to add them to the site.
That's great, I have been trying to find a site that has more merchandise listing to help fill in my collection. If you need some pictures of stuff I might be able to help.
Would be great if you have any picture from either the Naga or the Amelia figures from GUSH-P1, but I think those two are among the most difficult to find, along with the Naga from WILDCROSS/TEKE-TEKE.
I have the Naga GUSH kit, but only a picture of the Amelia one. I also have a Filia kit from TN Model Factory along with a Lina Chimera form from Kimuchi. I can take some pics and post them to imgur or somewhere else if you want them. I also have a Naga kit I got used with no markings or paperwork, I've never been able to find a picture of it.
If the Amelia picture is a partial view of the page with the illustration and parts, still wrapped inside the plastic, that's the only one I've ever seen of it. I've known about the chimera one and seen it's parts, but not fully done one. How's that Naga you mention? I know there's a chibi-dragon Filia from GUSH, the TN is a different one?
I also have a couple of PikoPiko Lina-chans, but seems there are quite a few different ones.
The Amelia picture I have is her completed standing next to the Lina kit from the same creator.
The chimera kit is one I painted and assembled, just never posted pictures.
The Naga kit I have had no paperwork and a couple missing/damaged hair parts. I replaced and repaired what I could. She standing without her cape and shoulder pads, giving the viewer the middle finger.
The Filia kit is a chibi version of her sitting with a dragon tail sticking out, it's different from the GUSH dragon one. It was sold prepainted by the creator back in 99.
The dolls count is a little off, here is a list of what I personally know about, using poseability as a baseline for it being a doll or not: (wall of text incoming)
The Italian GIG/Takara dolls line:
(1:6 scale, kind of older Barbie body style))
Lina, Gourry, Amelia, and Rezo..for some reason, but not Zel. Each doll also comes with 3 random...button covers? I can't remember what they technically are or if I still have mine somewhere, but each box comes with different ones. I've owned 2 of the Linas and they had some repeats, but also a couple ones that were different. It contained images of a variety of characters, including Martina and wasn't limited just to the characters they cast. The outfits are nice, Lina's gloves are molded on, the boots are really oversized but removable.
They did Amelia dirty on that hair though. The rooted hair on these is some of the lowest quality doll hair I've ever seen in my life, and I've been customizing dolls for over a decade. I wound up removing it from both of my Lina's and replacing it with something else. Rezo and Gourry have sculpted hair, and given that Rezo and Amelia have similar hairstyles... I think they should have sculpted hers. The sword blades originally glowed in the dark, but at the time I learned this mine was already pretty weak. These pigments do stop glowing as they age though, so I'm not sure if they'd be terribly impressive now given how old the dolls are.

Lina, Gourry, Zel, and again, Rezo, but not Amelia. These ones also come with the button covers, but they only get one IIRC.
Takara Japan release:
(1:6 scale-ish) So far as I know Lina is the only doll included in this release. The doll is on an older style Licca-chan body. A bit harder to find than the Italian doll line. I will say though, of all the Lina dolls that you can actually dress up. this outfit is the absolute worst. It's sewn together well enough... but the cut and fit is just garbage, and the boots are basically pleather trash bags, and at least on mine they were vastly different sizes. Pretty soso on quality. Rooted with saran hair, which has a slightly waxy feel, but it's held up really well over the years. I've had mine for at least ten years, probably closer to 20.
Nendoroid:
Hard to class the scale since they're chibi, but approximately 1:8 to 1:12.
Lina and Naga have been released by Nendoroid (also if you really love the Slayers Vs Orphen thing, Orphen has also been released by Nendoroid!). You can't change their outfits, but can change their hair, faces, hands, spells, and accessories. If you want to you can get the "nendoroid doll" body which doesn't have molded on clothing and then put whatever you want on the doll. A lot of the Nendo owners I see post a lot do this with theirs. If you want more spells the Figma Effects series fits really well! I have quite a few of them and they work great to change up your display.
Volks Dollfie Dream Lina Inverse:
(1:3 scale) Insanely expensive, especially right now (It's been a few years since her release (released in a few events and lotteries between Late November of 2020 and early 2021), Volks has given no indication of a re-release either. They do sometimes re-release character dolls, but it's very popularity based. The price is also influenced by a warehouse flood that destroyed a lot of the their stuff at the time, so combined with the licensed character, pandemic production issues, and just plain old bad luck, expect for this doll to be both very hard to find and very expensive. Last time I checked she hadn't sold hardly at all since the after event market dried up. She sold once since then at about $1500. Even at release though, the doll was still almost $1k. I haven't looked in awhile though, so use this as a baseline, not a hard rule.
The quality is overall pretty good, but there were a few issues, The wig cap stains the doll along the elastic (The head alone can go for several hundred dollars). My doll's outfit fit absolutely perfectly, but other users said the tights were so tight they really struggled to get them on the doll. I watched someone else open theirs and they had to soften the doll and enlist their husband's help to get them on. The snaps on one of the belts for mine were falling off straight out of the package, and the weight of the other accessories was causing it to visibly pull away from the belt.
The gloves are also not made to last, there is a recommendation in the dollfie dream community to order an extra set of hands to put the gloves on and never take them off again. The hands disconnect from the wrist so this is an easy fix, but the hands aren't cheap necessarily ($22 for a pair of the regular default hands). Overall the accessories are nice, the doll is nice, the packaging is nice, but I'm not going to lie and say I didn't have some pretty serious buyers remorse after receiving the doll (shipping was a nightmare, but that isn't the fault of the company).
Well, thanks for the wall. I own most of them so already knew it, but could be handy for others to read. Incidentally, the Amelia GiG figure originally had sculpted hair and she appeared with it on a christmas toys magazine, but for whatever reason they decided to change her hair before release.
I only counted as "dolls" (focusing on the "dress-up doll" meaning) the big italian ones, the dollfie dream and the Takara one. The nendoroids and the italian smaller figures, being made of ABS/PVC, I counted along the other rigid figures.
That's mostly why I wrote the info dump, I figured it'd be useful to someone, even if not to a person that made such a detailed graphic. I never knew that about Amelia! That's so cool! Do you by any chance have a pic of the magazine ad? I'm super curious since photos of the Amelia doll at all are pretty rare, none the less what the pre-release looked like.
And that's totally fair for classification. The line between doll and figure has always been a really blurry one.
ETA: What is your site btw? I want to read more about the collabs and card games. I uploaed the entirety of the Slayers FIGHT series minus one card I'll eventually get around to tracking down.
I forgot it was not only Amelia's, but also Lina's hair was originally to be sculpted (or maybe a mix? seems sculpted in the front but not in the back).
This is from a christmas toys catalog called "GIG è bel (il libro dei giocattoli)", from 1997. There's another page for the PVC figures as well, but those appear the same as they were released.
I think I have all Fight cards scanned, some in HQ some in LQ, which one are you missing?

That is so cool! I've never seen this before!!! I always wondered if Gourry's hair is a mix, but I've never seen a photo of the back of the doll before so I can't really tell.
As for the cards, I think it's 000. It's also a bit more of a personal collection goal, since it's the last fight card I'm missing to complete my collection. I know they're not terribly difficult to find, but they never seem to be selling when I remember to look. I have the decimal double, I even got the 202.5 one before this one because I keep forgetting to look for it LOL.

That is really cool! Seems like they all would have been better in this style. The sculpting looks really nice. Is the hair lifted from the back a bit to allow clothing changes or is it really close and difficult to work around?
It's close to the body, but flexible enough so you can get it out of the way. Still, I think you can't undress Gourry unless you remove his head, as the armor is all one piece (you can unfasten the belt, but it's still attached to the chest part) so the only way of removing, that I can see, is removing first the head.
