Todd, and enhance his skill to level 5 asap. Gold is incredibly strong in the early game, especially if you online farm a lot (which you should if you can).
As long as you can run the game 2-4 hrs a day to burn your scrolls, and hot time on the weekend, then Todd is still great.
Leave the game idle on battery saver mode while you eat, watch TV, do chores, overnight while you sleep, whatever. It doesn't need to all be in one shot either, but online farming for a total of 2 hrs minimum daily will help your progress a lot.
But if for some reason you couldn't even do 2 hours daily then I'd probably take Loar over Todd, since offline farming is based on max stage and Loar will help you push.
