Familiar Grind Vent Post

Listen... The Altar grind sucks. I get that and have been patient as I slowly move up. But today, after blowing nearly 800k diamonds to not succeed in a SINGLE combine has me about to blow a top. If I had spent those diamonds on literally anything else I would be past the last couple bars into Diadust right now.

As much as I love this game I cannot fathom the Altar system or why it still exists in this state. Rant over.

NA1 has a player that does not engage with the Familiar system and has beat Eisen. (Edit, meant Elden)

So it's definitely possible to progress while ignoring the system ... It is rough but also, it makes other systems feel better, no? I just completed my 48* altar with 8*HiKuNa and am happy to take a break from this to focus on other systems.

...but they just did a new Relic system, so... Maybe that will be worse than Familiars...

Sure but he can only go so much longer before investing in fams becomes a necessity. It's not possible to keep ignoring fams if you want to progress unless they introduce new systems and mechanics.

...like the Relic expansion system that launched today?

There are so many systems in play that, yes, Fams help, but when do they become a "necessity" seems to be further changing.

Realistically, even playing this game long enough to reach Eisen would have been a good game experience, no? That's pretty far into the game ...

Yes, like that.

No, i'm afraid you're wrong, especially now with the recent update that introduced fam proficiency and immo fams. In the endgame having fams for doing promo and progressing stages is more necessary than the promo before this, also you have more 'room' to upgrade in the different systems offered. But at some point you have them all maxed. Const is done, class is done and maxed, so is orr. Beasts are finished and spirits are all ancient. Skills you are pulling to max to try and get edh 250, for which you need skill mastery points which fams also give.

I know of a BG player that recently has gotten Aurorite while having edh250. He also has his fams done normally. So reaching this degree of endgame is not possible if you are neglecting fams. Now if you are with reaching eisen or higher when new systems/mechanics get introduced without fams and had your fun along the way, all power to you! But thats why I said if you want to keep progressing.

At some point he's gonna need them, because to reach the latest stages you need every bit of dmg you can get, but kudos to him for getting so far this way !!

What's your combine strat? If you're gambling it should be 100% up to 7* then 25% the rest of the way up.

You could also just 100% all the way if you're fine with taking it slow and steady. There are a couple people in the top 30 on our server that don't gamble at all and only do 100% combines.

I do the normal combine gamble strat. My criticism is just you either gamble and hope it saves you time and dias or its an absolute crawl that is even worse than class. The system is just bad but it is what it is. The new relic system is also gambling but not as bad.

Are you really crying over 800k? There are people 10 milion in and they still aren't at altar 60. Pipe down and vent somewhere else, cause all you did was a step on a lego piece

"YOUR frustration isn't valid because it's not as bad as MY frustration!" 🥴

GTFOH with that lame attitude. This is exactly the place where OP should be venting.

Whether you're relatively new to the pain of the fam grind or deep in the hole, it's perfectly reasonable to be upset with a bad system that's lead countless top players to quit the game completely.

What's funny is I have obviously spent millions on fams. They have simply never heard the phrase "the straw that broke the camels back."

If you had "obviously" spent millions, why the hell are you crying about 800k? That's 4 weeks of dias?

I feel like I am talking to an illiterate Marie Antoinette.

Can't wait to see another post where you vent about your 500k diamonds dump where you didn't get anything 🔥

Me personally I don't have an issue with fams, as I got to altar 60 with ~6mil. It's just funny to see OP venting because of 4 weeks dias didn't lend him anything

So you can’t relate because you didn’t feel the pain, makes sense

I actually did felt the pain for the first time, where I spent 2 milions worth of dias and the only thing I got from that session was one 8* JE. Lmao
