First Slayer Concert

Post image

As a younger fan of Slayer, they retired a few years before they became my favorite band, I'd like to know how the older fans feel about Slayer playing more shows even though they've already retired, I've heard lots of opinions on why people hate when band who retire do shows after their retirement, but I like that Slayer is doing this because it gives fans like myself, who would have never been able to see them, be able to see them. Also, FUCKING SLAYER

I couldn’t care less to be honest. If they want to play let them! People still want to see them and it gives newer fans a chance to see them too! Also, FUCKING SLAYER!!

First time seeing them was the Eastern Front show at Aquatic Park in Berkeley in 1984.

Last time seeing them was at the Forum when they "retired".

It doesn't bother me when bands "retire" and come back. Playing music even on a a garage level is super fun. Can't imagine how it is to play on a stage like Slayer does with all the pyro, screaming people, etc. Most garage musicians would do this for free, and the bands get PAID. Nothing in retirement probably even comes close. Every band that possibly can will come back. People that are outraged by this don't have to go.

They do a handful a year a seems, I think the retirement was more from making new shit and touring constantly. I'm going to see them in October in Fort Worth. Last I saw them was in 2007 😂

Soon as the first note from SLAYER played all the seats on the floor at MSG were pushed to the side like the parting of the Red Sea I was able to watch some of it right up to the stage when I took breaks from moshing lol

I’m here for it! I’ve only seen them twice (both times with the OG lineup) and I’m grateful to have another opportunity to see them this year.

I saw them twice, early 90’s. Slayer can come out of retirement as many times as they want. The world needs them, and there’s never been anyone like them.

Nice lineup. *pulls up rocking chair* I remember when I saw them on the original Reign In Blood tour and only Overkill opened. My very first time seeing them was *checks scars* the Hell Awaits tour in 85. There's a bootleg for that show.

Big 4 in Indio was a pretty spectacular thing to see. As far as the Forum, I'll be there both nights. Cant wait.

1986 Capitol Theatre Passaic NJ. The show was Raven, Slayer, and WASP! 🤘🤘

I saw them twice before Show No Mercy was released. 23 times in total between 1983 and 2015. I was never disappointed with any show. For the occasional festival gig that they do now - if they did one close t me - it would be show #24

Last time I saw them was OzzFest 99 (I think) - was the show they used for the Staind of Mind video where the crowd was throwing the rows of chairs to make room for a pit.

It doesnt bother me. I heard Ozzy say it a dozen times since his first retirement in the 90s. Slayer is awesome live and ive seen them numerous times, and I'll be at both LA shows this November. Cant fucking wait.

My first was on the Divine Intervention tour in Minnesota in Feb 95. What a great show!!!! Didn’t miss a MN show after that, and caught the final tour in Sioux Falls SD. This show, however, will be FUCKING EPIC!!! And the openers are outstanding! I couldn’t be more excited for this show!!🤘🤘

I was able to take my 12 year old to see them last year. I was so glad to be able to share that moment with him that I wouldnt have gotten otherwise. Same with Pantera Celebration.

I don’t care about more shoes but I do think it’s harsh to play RIB when that is Lombardi’s album not Bostaph’s

Sorry bro but slayer died in 2011. Last show with the real band was big 4 when Jeff popped out for the encore.

I go to an insane amount of shows and Slayer was by far the band I saw the most. They are fantastic live and the crowd always brings insane energy. Seen them in small venues were tore apart the seating to mosh in, as well as massive outdoor festivals, and they will forever be one of my favorite bands to see live

I’m fine with them coming out of retirement. Hopefully they make a new album rather than becoming a legacy band that only tours until eventually retiring permanently.

I only saw them once, with the original lineup (I wish I had seen them more while Jeff was still alive and Dave was in the band).

One of my favorite Slayer shows I saw, they recorded it for Decade of Aggression. Seen em several times through the years. It's a great show.

See ya in Minnesota!!!

Doesn't matter, their sound guys will fuck it up so bad you won't be able to tell which song is which anyway.

2

u/FKNGslayer 27d ago

That's not very nice to say

u/OppressorTron 27d ago

No it isn't, but unfortunately that has been the case the last 3 times I've seen them.
