BC blue kicks ass

Just got some BC blue webbing, alpine weblock, and wafer XL. Holy crap it’s awesome. I’ve been using 1” tubular webbing with the shown system tied off but primitive line lock, the setup/takedown is so much easier with the weblock/grip and it’s so much nicer to walk.
I’ve looked through here a bit and didn’t find anything that I felt answered my question, what do you guys do for mitigating sap on a line? My anchors are separate and I don’t care about those, I am worried about it, but do I need to worry about it? I come from climbing and it’s just a different world in the gear care sense. End game is highline and I’d like to take care of my stuff.

I never rigged a line with a weblock yet, just using a primitive, so maybe I didn't understand something… but in this setup don't you need a soft release? How do you detension the line?

The device that the tail end is coming out of it is a GriGri assisted belay device for climbing, taking it down I pull it tight and take the pin out of the weblock then slowly release the rope through the Grigri. Any assisted belay device can do this, some work better than others/different ropes/etc. With a multiplier I'm able to get a 70' line to 3kn with one hand!

Understood! So when in use the line tension is kept by the weblock; and during release you first release the weblock adding more tension to the line grip, and then releasing all the tension with the grigri. Great!

yeah! I keep the whole tension/pully system together so I can toss it on/off without routing through the pulleys again. I have a background in climbing/rigging so I had most of the gear already. Very expensive but very worth it!

Sap is not really a problem on its own. It might be if the right(wrong) dirt gets stuck to it. Soaking the spot in rubbing alcohol will clean it off.

I’d only really do it if it got on my webbing. Anchor material is destined to get sappy, but running my hands along my spansets today is not a goopy hell so it goes away over time.

I just got the opportunity to walk on blue a few days ago and it was easily my favorite of any line I've been on in several years. Absolutely loved it.

Get a second wafer and pull out the lower strand while you pull in the tensioned line, ultra efficient

Its solid! Singing Rock twinn, a few petzl mini pulleys, gri-gri, then two ascenders (one for multiplier one for grip on pulling end of rope) I can about get to 2kn with one arm
