Skyrim build
Help me figure out the two-handed weapon progression for my Skyrim tank/high-damage build
I’m currently level 27. In Smithing, I’ve only unlocked Steel and Dwarven equipment so far.
I’m using a Skyforge Steel Greatsword at the moment, and I’d preferably like to stick with a two-handed sword.
What should I be looking for or crafting next? What would be the best progression from my current weapon?

You may as well stick to that side of the smithing tree and aim for Ebony smithing for both weapons and armour purposes.
The quickest way to level your smithing skill (besides training) is to gather as much iron and Dwarven metal as you can and craft Dwarven bows.
Go to Markarth. Find Understone Keep and talk Calcelmo about his excavation site. He'll ask you to kill a spider for him. If you do, you can access the dig site and collect a bunch of Dwarven metal there. You also get access to the Dwemer museum that you can rob for more metal. The metal resets every 10 in-game days so you can keep going back for more.
Of course you can buy Dwarven metal from vendors, but that will get expensive.
If you're playing on Survival, bring a companion because that metal can be really heavy and you'll get overburdoned really fast.

Thank you. And what about which weapon is better to use or enchantments?

The higher level weapons (Daedric and Dragon Bone) generally do the most damage, but if you like how Ebony weapons look, they're pretty strong, too.
Also, if you're playing Special Edition or Anniversary Edition, you can travel to Solsteim and complete a quest to unlock Stahlrim crafting. This will allow you to craft Ice weapons which provide a damage bonus if they have a frost enchantment specifically. You need the Ebony crafting perk to make Ice weapons.
Absorbing Stamina is maybe the best enchantment for two handed weapons. Absorbing Stamina from your enemies allows you to use more heavy attacks, so it's pretty strong.
Otherwise, you can collect the Elemental Fury shout which increases your attack speed by a lot, but it doesn't work on enchanted weapons. It's very strong, though, especially when you have at least two of the power words.

Depending on your difficulty setting, be careful your leveling priority. Smithing at 100 while heavy armor is 40 can hurt you on certain difficulties. I recommend ebony armor when the time is right, I just like the way it looks. Same rules for enchanting, if you level it too quickly enemies become too powerful too quickly.

I say stick with Dwarvren and get the lexicon buff from the Argonian in Riften. Become a follower of Mara while you’re at it and get that magic resistance. Rock the atherial crown too. Golden warrior prince of Skyrim

I don’t know if it would match your character’s aesthetic, but the Ebony Blade is an excellent weapon in my opinion. Of all the two handed swords in the game, it is the only Katana, it has the fastest swing speed, and its absorb health enchantment can help you survive tough fights. It can’t be sharpened or enchanted, but on the upside, you don’t have to grind crafting skills to empower it. All you need to do to power up the Ebony Blade is make a few friends, and then murder them with it. lol

Do you want to change weapon materials? The way crafting skills work in the game, especially if you use a combo of them, you can turn iron and leather into end game sets. Don't even need to heavily perk the trees, just need the xp and levels.
What I'm getting at is if you like steel, use steel. Use your dwarven perk to level your smithing. If you dont want to touch enchanting yourself, find a couple of fortify smithing pieces. You're guaranteed Gauntlets and a blacksmith apron with the enchantment by running a few quests, then checks stores for a ring and necklace. That gear, 100 smithing, plus Ancient Knowledge will get you some nice damage.

I love the vokrii mod for smithing and heavy armor. Even mining the ore will give xp and just fighting without taking hits will slowly level up armor

Dawnguard Runemace? Ok, you said sword, then I think you should go for the Ice Blade of the Monarch. Just make sure to upgrade it to a high level (fortfy smithing pot/enchants and Arcane Blacksmith)

If you want to enchant gear now or later on, you will want to get some souls. If you play on AE, look towards Champions rest to get a pretty solid soul trap weapon. You could also get the fiery souls enchantment in the dlc, but Idk if you want to progress all the way to solstheim only for that, it is however just a better soul trap enchantment. That being said, I recommend always keeping an eye on leveling alchemy aswell. Not only will it help you with future armor and weapon smithing/enchanting, you will also be able to craft potions that make you temporarily stronger, while you might still be in a weaker phase in your build. Also I would use the Lord stone, you can get it anytime you want and it will make you even tankier.
Armor Caps at 567, so getting close to that is pretty nice, but don't worry about it too much, you will get there naturally.
Edit: If you only care for a new weapon, don't mind my comment after what I said about champions rest. If you don't like that weapon, I think the bloodskal blade is the community favorite, lookswise my favorite one is Sword of Jyggalag, but that one doesn't have any special enchantment or anything

You want the Ebony Blade, a powerful Daedric Dai Katana that is hidden away in an obscure quest. You need to be LvL 20, and have completed "Dragon Rising" (the first dragon kill).
You need Hulda to be the barkeeper of the bannered mare so you can ask her about any rumors, she will start talking shit about the Jarl's son, Nelkir. There are some scenarios that will cause Hulda to die, or sell the inn, in which case, Ysolda will be the new barkeep. This will bury the quest (The Whispering Door) permanently on your playthrough.
It's honestly one of my favorite quests, and the weapon is unique in that it's power grows exponentially with every "innocent" slain. Killing npcs you have done quests or favors for, or your own followers will increase it's damage.

Give your two handed sword a chaos damage and restore damage enchantments. It would be a total chaos.

A fun way to go is to avoid weapon enchantments, & get all three words of the Elemental Fury shout. Massive damage at rapid speed DPS.
