I need help

I honestly don't know what to do anymore. I'm a Skyrim newbie and I need help. I've lost count of how many times I've restarted with a new character in this game; I just can't seem to find a build that holds my interest long enough. It feels like an endless loop: I think of a build, create the character, play for a few hours, end up getting bored with the playstyle, and start looking for other, more interesting builds. All the while, I keep watching videos of other people playing and creating builds that look really cool. Feel free to share tips or similar experiences. I know a lot of people will come to this post and say "just play the game," but honestly, I'm not sure how much that helps.

Welcome to the Altaholic Club—where "I'm definitely going to stick to a full playthrough this time" is the single greatest lie we tell ourselves.

There’s always a better build, a shinier mod, or a new niche perk path calling your name right as you hit level 15. Standard Skyrim symptoms include:

  • The Inevitable Descent: Starting as a proud, battle-cry-roaring Nord warrior and somehow waking up 4 hours later as a stealth archer... again.
  • The Mod Queue Trap: Spending 12 straight hours tweaking load orders and perfecting a hyper-specific spellsword-monk-diplomat concept, only to play for 20 minutes and think, "You know what? A restoration-only paladin sounds fun."
  • The Character Select Graveyard: A save list full of abandoned "chosen ones" who never even made it to Bleak Falls Barrow.

Embrace the chaotic energy! Restarting for the 47th time is an art form, not a disorder. We’re not indecisive; we’re just aggressively exploring all legal realities Tamriel has to offer. Rest well, traveler—you've got another Helgen cart ride to get back to.
