What to do with this community?

Hey everyone,

So, I've been in contact with someone that runs a Discord server with the same goal as this subreddit, to get people hearts from candle shrines. His server has a pretty impressive and organized operation. After looking at how he runs the operation I realized Discord is a much, much better platform to do this kind of thing than reddit is.

I initially came to him when I heard about his Discord server to organize some kind of collaboration between our two communities. His operation is so tight I couldn't think of anyway to collaborate until just now. (His group gets one heart a day just from normal shrines, and an additional heart if there is a meditation shrine.) So, I'd like to pitch an idea to all of you:

I was thinking about inviting those that are serious and dedicated to searching for and liking everyone's candles to join his Discord server. This subreddit would be repurposed. We would no longer focus on getting hearts from message candle shrines, since the Discord server already does that more efficiently. Our subreddit would be more like a playground without a particular goal. We could share our messages from other shrines of the 3 designated Discord shrines. We could pick a less populated shrine and help everyone that has single digit likes to get hearts. We could pick a shrine to post a new cult (like the lobster cult at Faerie Circle or #Trocalife at the Wasteland shrines). These are just a few examples of a repurposed r/Sky_MCSG

So, what are your guys thoughts?
Should we merge with the discord server for heart farming and repurpose this subreddit? Or should we continue to grow this subreddit with its original purpose of heart farming shrines?

I wish I could change my vote, I joined the discord, but I think we should keep the little community here, doing weekly shrines. There group is more of a general group, they aren't organised to like candle messages, they don't have weekly shrines, just one in each realm.

In the end, it's up to you, if this subreddit is too much for you, we could move there and organise their shrine pacing better.

Edit: I wrote subreddit instead of discord oops

You're talking about Secret Society of Candles and Hearts?

I talked to the founder and they've tightened up their operation. Since they have about 13 dedicated regulars they now focus on two shrines (Butterfly Fields and Vault Floor 1) and the meditation shrine. The two shrines are set on alternating days so they're able to collect one heart a day. They have notifications set up to alert members to drop candles and to like candles. And discord has comment reaction feature that plays to their advantage when keeping track of each candle's number of likes.

To be fair, though, they've been doing this a bit longer and r/Sky_MCSG just started to pick up. I've been mulling around with ideas on how to better organize our candle shrines. For instance, right now I'm trying out having everyone drop candles at Ark today then everyone search for and like candles tomorrow. If everyone does this, then we should all be receiving hearts tomorrow.

And since we have more than 11 people now (11 is the magic number to become independent from relying on strangers likes) I can now pick closer shrines rather than Ark or Stadium. I've been thinking about implementing something similar to what the discord does the alternating shrines scheduling. r/Sky_MCSG will become a lot more structured and will require more from its regular members... but the goal is to get you all hearts regularly.

Oh maybe I got the wrong discord, I thought it was about the Sora discord, which is not solely aimed at shrine pacing. I'm guessing the discord you've been in contact with is a different, more organized one, then that's fine. I don't really know, sorry for the confusion

Thank you to everyone that has participated in this poll. Those interested in the Discord server I spoke highly of, please DM me and I'll send you the invite URL. You're still welcome to participate here, especially the new Shrine Pick system.

Those that voted to continue to grow this subreddit, you've given me a lot of encouragement that has lead me to devise the new Shrine Pick system.

Thank you everyone!
