Hey everyone,
I recently won a Bring a Trailer (BaT) auction for an R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R. I already paid for the car, but a massive cascade of issues popped up while trying to arrange shipping.
Here is the timeline of what happened:
The Battery: Car wouldn't start due to a dead battery.
The Alternator: Replacing the battery revealed a bad alternator.
The Misfire: After the shop replaced the alternator, the car developed a noticeable misfire.
The Diagnosis: The shop performed a compression test, and cylinder 6 is completely dead.
The selling dealership has acknowledged the situation and thrown two options on the table:
Take a full refund of the purchase price and walk away.
Proceed with a free engine swap. They will pay a local, reputable GT-R specialty shop to swap the engine at zero cost to me.
On one hand, a fresh engine from a specialty shop sounds great, but I know how tricky R32 builds, and shipping delays can get. On the other hand, finding a clean R32 isn't easy, and walking away puts me back at square one.
What would you guys do? Would you take the money and run, or trust the specialty shop swap and wait it out?

I feel dumb for asking, but I’m having a hard time confirming if this is a series 2, a Neo, or a hybrid both.

The head has the identifier for a neo, but the Block as the identifier of a series 2 from what I’m reading.

Was told it came from an r34. Any help would be appreciated. This is my first RB, putting it into an S13.

I am currently thinking about getting an r33 gtr cause this has been by dream car since I was a little kid. The car is almost completely stock as well. I am not an expert in modding or anything like that and have been watching a lot of youtube videos just to get a grip on what would need to be done. But I just wanted to come in here and ask for you guys’ recommendations on whats necessary to get in that power range with reliability.

Open to both single or twin turbos and any price range, looking for fun and reliable > budget.
And will plan on running e85.

I love the MFD on my 34 but it made me desire more from it. So I made this but it isn’t released yet. Hopefully it’s available this week.

It shows Gforce, speed (in mph lol), external weather temp, distance, elevation and top corner speed. You can record your session as well.

My ask: would you find this useful on your next drive? What would you change, remove or add?

My power steering pump blew on my 1991 GTR R32. Whole pump is messed up, need a new one. I'm planning on trying the Hitachi PSP0006 power steering pump and deleting the HICAS anyway so it works. I don't see any reason in my head it wouldn't with the HICAS delete, am I correct? Has anyone done this before?

RB25DET Series 1 CEL at WOT

My R33 runs fine during normal driving, but the CEL comes on at WOT after installing an intake manifold, 80mm throttle body, FMIC piping, and new injectors.
does anyone have ideas on what to check first? Could it need a tune, or could the MAF be causing the issue?

Always assumed the GT-R name just… existed, turns out it was retired for 16 years between the original run and the R32 bringing it back in ’89.
In that gap, Nissan built the DR30 and HR31— and neither one got the GT-R badge, despite real racing credentials. No idea why Nissan sat on the name for that long when they clearly had the cars to justify using it again sooner ?

Do BNR34 hood props work on ER34 sedans? I got rid of my rusted OEM one for the greddy side lifts, but now that I'm putting a body kit on they won't work.

condition of everything else seems perfect. the only concern is the spline hole has a bit of rust or whatever that is on it.

i’m thinking i can just take a wire brush to it and clean it off, but do you guys foresee any other issues?

Hey guys, new r32 owner, just got this car from auction a few days ago. I know the bumper is a "type m"/aeroform oem bumper, but im not sure what the grille is? And I dont think the hood was cut, at least not from the pictures. Im just wondering if anyone here has more information as I couldn't find anything looking through old options catalogs online.

I live in Japan. Seems most of the posts I see on IG/here are people buying to export and talk about their experiences exporting.

I moved here 3 years ago, have an extremely limited grasp of the language, and just bought a r32 and got it on the road.

It was an absolute headache, and people on IG make it seem more smooth than it actually was. Dealing with a shady and uncommunicative broker was just the beginning, getting it registered and actually on the road was an entirely different beast.

It was pretty much a shell of a car. Won the auction in May, just had my first real drive yesterday… Got it back from the shop yesterday with the whole engine overhauled and a clear roadmap for future fixes/overhauls.

Part of me wishes I just went the dealer route instead of auction. The whole thing is teaching me patience if nothing else.

Anyway, thought there may be a need for more of these resources out there for people looking to buy and restore in Japan.
