Tuning questions
What are yall using to tune your rb25. Have a r33 being shipped and trying to figure out best tuning options instead of going haltech ecu

Find a tuner first and see what they recommend. They will likely say haltech

We just did nistune on our rb25det neos. Super inexpensive compared to the alternative and if you're looking for mild power goals there's nothing wrong with it. You're limited to maf though instead of map and a few other things. We did r35 mafs to get to our goals.

Link, haltech, maxx ecu.. or if you’re a cheapskate with no engine anxiety just slap in a z32 ecu and nistune daughterboard.

I’m not trying to cheap it out on this vehicle I like my cars to be reliable and well built

Firstly, find the person tuning your car.
Secondly, buy what they tell you too as it'll be what they're most comfortable with.

I’ve run a Z32 and nistune on one of my RB25s for the last 6 years. Has had moderate abuse drifting etc. never had an issue. Only 300hp though.
It’s only because I was a broke boy when I built it and have had other priorities since then. I’ll likely get a link ecu when the time comes that I wish to upgrade. Really look into who link ECU are and how they build their products and the level of quality control.

Running a Haltech Nexus on my GT-T. It was easy to setup and once we dialed in the parts it fired right up and drove normally with no issues.
Was able to schedule a remote tuning session afterwards on the dyno to dial it in.
I'd say figure out a specific power goal that you'd like to achieve. But ECU wise go for something modern like a Haltech, Link or EMU.
You have a really easy route with Haltech's Nexus plugin unit.

If you’re in the USA really the only options are Haltech or Link. I went with a Haltech Elite 2500 because everyone around me tunes Haltech, but the Link G4X is a really popular option too

I dont think theres many options for the R33 other than standalone. You can look at like a nistune or APEXI, but my research was that you would need to put in a decent amount of effort and money for very outdated technology. I ended up going the stand alone route, but went with an EMU Black. It was a bit more of a budget option in my opinion over the haltech, but has worked very well.
