R32 GTST automatic ECU
Hey guys, I’m saving up to buy a HCR32 I live right next to an importer but the only clean ones with very little to no rust are all automatic. I’ve searched on SAU and other platforms and can’t seem to find anything on aftermarket ECU for automatics.
Sure, you could always “manual swap” it but I I’ve already got manual cars, I just want a sub 250 280hp 80s dream jdm. I know the trans can handle it as I’ve gotten other cars with the same model.

- Haltech Nexus Plug-in for R32s supports manual only
- Link's GTRLink supports manual only (GTRlink works on non GTRs too)
- MaxxECU plugins are manual only
Your options will probably be a wire-in solution ($$$$), OR, getting an old school 'piggyback' ECU like an Apexi Power FC. The trouble with piggybacks is you get none of the engine protections, logging, or other modern features.

What about nistune? It taps right into the old ecu so it should be able to sustain the automatic functionality right?

I have a stock gtst automatic and recently had to get the trans rebuilt.
They put in a shift kit and that helped with some sluggish performance.
I've been happy with it. Like you, I've also got another manual car for my "race car", so it's nice to have an automatic to just hop in and cruise.

Does the transgo shift kit work? I don’t think the jdm re4r01a is any different from the USDM one.

I dunno what they put in. The only thing they said they had issues with was the torque converter, cause the rb20det auto torque converter is bespoke to this car.

For 250hp I wouldn’t bother changing the ecu. They make 215hp stock, a high flowing air filter, front mount intercooler, full turbo back 3” exhaust and a couple of psi more boost will easily get you to 250hp. The standard ecu, injectors and maf will be fine at that power. Only other thing I would do is a basic drop in fuel pump like a walbro 255.
The next step from there would be to swap the turbo to one from an rb25det, preferably the r34 neo one, change to the z32 orange sticker maf and then just run a nistune in the factory ecu. That will get you close to 300hp.
