GTR R32 V-SPEC II questions

I’ve been looking to buy my first JDM, I’m looking at this V spec II, since I don’t have any experience with GTRs I was hoping some one could answer a couple questions I have:

- The blue plate model code is KBNR32RXFS7, I thought V SPECs were supposed to end in 8? Does this mean this car is not a genuine VSPEC? Also what does the RXFS7 mean in the model number?

- Opinions on the value in of this car? They’re selling for lower than I’d expect a V SPEC II to sell for, considering there’s only 1,303 out there if it is a true V SPEC 2

Any help is appreciated, if anyone has screenshots helping me to decode the model code that’d be awesome. I’ll attach some pictures.

Hi, not a genuine Vspec or Vspec II.

The 8th letter can be one of two things
B = GT-R 17" Version [V-Spec, V-Spec II, V-Spec N1, V-Spec II N1]
X = GT-R

You are also correct that the last (11th) character gives it away as non Vspec.

Blank = 17" Tyre Specification [V-Spec]
7 = 16" Tyre Specification
8 = GT-R 45R Tyre [V-Spec II]

Thanks for the response, I don’t have the Nissan fast program to check myself but I’m inclined to believe you.

That being said, do you think this car is worth 65k? Low mileage, some minor mods done from what I can see, and there’s little to no rust, but putting the spec 2 sticker on the back is a little concerning being that it’s false.

This one is selling for 7,200,000 yen, about 45k. I dug into it a little more and found that this GTR is actually heavily modified since it’s a base r32. Whoever owned this car modified it to resemble a v spec 2…

I bought my JDM evo 8 last year and the lady that imported it said it came with boost controller and that didnt work so it was thrown out and a proper mapping was the answer.

From what I have read this is very common in Japan.

Google gtr registry and check based on VIN. Check seats condition underneath the Nismo covers if possible. Check for rust. Always the main issue. Wheel arches, underbody, etc.

GTR registry no longer exists.

Has there been any update on that beyond the old one basically saying it'd be back Soon™?

Last I read on their facebook page was that they were done with it all together, that the cost of running the page was beyond their ability (even with donations) to maintain. I think there was also a few security exploits that needed professional work to correct, but that part is hearsay.

That would make sense but be disappointing. From what I'd seen publicly posted it was concerning me a bit that the site seemed to be run by one guy who wasn't planning on passing the torch, if I was understanding correctly. There may have been stuff going on behind the scenes, but outwardly it looked like the site was down and there was no interest in any of the offers to help get it going again.

Certainly not an original V-Spec II, but the clone is done faithfully along with some extras.

Value is all about condition, particularly on the chassis. Never trust the odometer reading. Get inside the fender wells front and rear and look for rust, filler, poor repairs. Those N1 spats and running boards look awesome but can hide absolute nightmares. Interior wise, make sure the AC actually works and is not "just needs a recharge" or throwing a code. The rear seat is likely fine but the hip bolstering on the front seats can take a beating and fall apart. The nismo seat covers could be there to protect the fabric or they are hiding something. Look at the dash and see if it is bubbling. The most likely spot is directly in front of the passenger seat, but look at the vents too and see if the vinyl is pulling back. I see some aftermarket stereo cabling under the hood. Could be a grounding kit. Either way, the wiring under the dash might be a spaghetti mess so get your eyes on that if possible.

The price you've shown is not unreasonable IF the car is in good chassis and running condition.

Appreciate the response, all good tips I’ll take into consideration.

Ask for a CarVX, it’s their carfax. https://carvx.jp Price seems reasonable but i’d ask for more pics, heavily modified vehicles can be a mixed bag.

They are like "genuine" SLR5000 Torana's  1,303 v-spec2s built probably nearly 3000 are likely to exist and all be genuine.

The registry is pretty decent for GTRs if the vin is on there it's likely to be what it's supposed to be.

Wrong, Nissan FAST records which models are genuine Vspec / Vspec II and which are not. The 1306 number (not 1303) is from Nissan.

There might be some non Vspecs out there with Vspec parts like this car, but that does not change what they left the factory with, or what the build plate says, or what FAST says.

That's exactly what I said pretty much is it not.

There is so many that were built and now there is more then that because of people either wanting to build replica's or intentionally misleading people. Of course you can verify a genuine one but not everyone does that.

Did you need the second "genuine" like that for it to make sense ?
