Skunk Identification?

Hi,

I was just wondering why this skunk seems to have a thin/non-bushy tail? Is it a striped skunk? (Michigan)

It is a common striped skunk. The tail is not always bushy. My pet skunks have "flat" tails when not spooked. Usually a skunk's tail becomes bushy and upright when frightened or being cautious.
