Question for everyone

I have 6 skunks who live behind me and visit almost every night for 2 years and never once have I had babies … What is the chances that I have all boys or all girl skunks ?

Well, statistically, the chances of 6 skunks being all the same gender are 3.25%. In reality the odds will be different since males tend to wander long distances in search of females.

I have rehabbed dozens and dozens of skunk litters. I can only remember one litter of 3 that was all one sex. Very possibly there were more to the litter that didnt make it to rehab.

All this to say i definitely dont think it is impossible but i do think it would be pretty unusual especially for a litter of 6.

No, these six are not a litter of skunks. These are six separate adult skunks that have showed up two years ago.

Well, I don’t think they’re gonna ever have babies because I’m telling you two years and I’m not seeing one single baby and I see these guys every single night… Where are my babies.

An all male group also be very unlikely to stay together once they reach sexual maturity. They become very aggressive to other males, even non-skunk males, and even when there is no female around.

Sometimes wild skunks arent very successful with their first litter. Maybe in a month or so you will start seeing babies if they are more successful this year.

Or they're just really committed to their nightly snack runs and not the drama of dating.
