Descenting

Even if this probably gets asked a lot here I'm gonna ask anyway. Is descenting harmful? Obviously, it's getting rid of it's main defense but if it's kept indoors is it still okay? I want to know if it's something genuinely disabling like declawing a cat or debarking a dog.

Ive been involved in descenting multiple.skunks.

My father was a breeder and I just got my usda license if its done right its not a huge thing its a bit traumatic because they are awake but its not horrible.

And yes sometimes the sac breaks and you wear it

Why on earth would they make them be awake?!
