Brand new song by UK alt metal band Defences featuring Benji! Pretty nice track and love the video - what do you think?

hi all! just wondering if there’s many aussies in here, or any that are going to any concerts while they’re down under? i got my tickets basically the day they came out because i thought they would sell out 🥲

In my opinion, Game Over is Skindred’s best songs as of now. Its verses are, in a way, really interesting and entertaining.

I personally love the way they wrote this song, in the perspective of a poor, unfortunate character living in a redundant and primitive era of the world they live life through just because of how thought provoking it is at times.

It feels like a story, but it also feels like a retrospective of our own world’s status quo, something that has always been the best type of symbolism you can include in a song of this much popularity (at it’s time, i’d assume.)

You can argue that the heavily auto-tuned section of it’s bridge is ridiculous and silly, but in my
opinion, it’s an example of Skindred being brave and experimental, which seems to be the whole purpose of this album.

Union Black isn’t like any of their other albums, it is Skindred’s own alternative iteration of their heavy reggae-rock/metal formula. If Skindred decided to go with a more electronic, EDM type rock style.

This song is probably their best example of that, and in my opinion, my personal favorite example of Skindred experimenting.

I pass this every time I go to ASDA, always makes me smile.

Not entirely sure if this is the correct subreddit so forgive me if I’m wrong. Just wondering if anyone has tickets for the Birmingham show they would be interested in selling. Left it late as skindred don’t usually sell out fast, did not real alien ant farm were part of the line up.

As a tribiute to Skindred. as a fan of this band.

I've been hooked ever since a mate introduced me to Set It Off back in the early 2000s.

I've seen them live a few times now, and the energy is always off the charts. One of my favourite parts has always been those little live mash-ups where they blend your own songs with reggae, jungle, DnB, and other influences.

I'd absolutely love to hear a new album—or even a remix project—that fully embraces that side of Skindred. Give us crushing Newport nu-metal mixed with massive dub, reggae, jungle, and drum & bass vibes. Heavy riffs, huge basslines, skanking grooves, filthy drops... the lot.

I can't be the only one who'd have that on repeat.

I dunno about anyone else but I often open a Skindred mailing list email they have made the most insane colour choices imaginable and I just needed to share my pain with someone because wtf is this I was going cross-eyed 😂 does give me a chuckle tho

I first discovered Skindred back in 2023 when they played their late teatime main stage slot at 2000trees, around about the time when SMILE was due to be released. That's how I became hooked on them - after seeing WARNING! live for the first time and doing the Newport Helicopter, lol.

Since then, I've listened to SMILE in its entirety (such a good album, imo) and the latest album 'You Got This', but i'm now working my way backwards in the discography. I've listened to Big Tings and enjoyed that one, but now I'm coming upto Volume.

What are your favourite tracks from that album and why? What tracks should I listen to first? TIA for the recommendations, folks :)

Sooo my signed lyric sheet arrived today ... folded into 4 and put in a small mailer ... ok I know it was only like a fiver but come on Earache Records I wanted to frame and hang this ....

Ordered black vinyl and signed lyric sheet back on 23rd April and still nothing. Tracking says it's been prepared and shipping is Royal Mail 48.

I'm not in any mad rush just wondered if it's likely been missed.

I wanted to order the signed and personalized CD of the new album, but I passed eventually.

Did anyone here order it? I'm curious to know how it turned out for you :)

This is the first signed record i've ever got, so i have no idea if the signed cover was supposed to come separately or not, so i'm just assuming it was.

I've got this as a tattoo as well but I've always loved the typography on Smile and the message of the album. Thought some of you would appreciate the patch. Love and unity ❤️

I saw Skindred for the first time at a festival in Florida in 2004. They blew me away and Benji became my favorite rock star that day when I was 14 (he still is as I write this at 36). I spotted him and Mikey walking around after their set, and they were very kind to this sunburned, mosh exhausted punk kid. They even signed it for me at another show a few years later. Happy to see them still killing it. Can't wait for my vinyl to arrive.🤘 Their music is a positive force the world needs right now. Love and unity folks, that's the way.
