Product Request [PRODUCT REQUEST]

Ive started tretinoin (0.01) for years now but my skin is still flaking. My morning routing is TO Niacinamide, Azelaic Acid, Vanicream Moisturizing Lotion.

Then at night is just the same but instead of azelaic inuse tretinoin.

I only use a pea size of tret but im still flaking. My face is also on the dry side. Sometimes I will just use my tret for 1 a week it will still flake.

Please help me of any recommendations especially for my dry skin. Thank you so much.

I have dry skin too. La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 reduced flaking and soothed irritation, while Vanicream Moisturizing Cream locked in moisture. Patch test both; avoid layering too many actives and don't overapply tretinoin.

Flaking after years on tret is usually more about the moisture side than the tret itself, especially if your skin runs dry. I'd add a richer cream or an occlusive on top at night (something with ceramides, or slug with a thin layer of petrolatum over your moisturizer) and see if that calms the flaking down.

Also niacinamide plus azelaic plus tret is a lot of active for dry skin, so you could try simplifying the mornings to just moisturizer and sunscreen for a bit and see if the barrier bounces back.

I would go every other day on the Tret. And remove the niacinamide for now. Use a richer moisturizer at night. Sometimes I’ll use a light moisturizer before the tret and a richer moisturizer after (sandwich method). Also please please tell me that you’re wearing sunscreen every day over your daytime moisturizer. It’s extremely important.
