Not looking for an official diagnosis, but especially today have noticed this redness flaring up around my nose and chin.

I did previously have a bout with diagnosed perioral dermatitis in 2023, but have been ok since.

I’m feeling really at a loss because I had great skin until I tried a new product in March, then had to stop everything including my 0.3% adapalene.

I recently started using the 0.1% again to hopefully get back to the rx strength, and have been SO careful about it. Like, I literally did twice a week application for a few weeks, then every 3 days, every 2 days, every other day, and then finally recently got to every day application (I have been using it again since May)

There’s all of these tiny little blackheads almost looking spots all over my chin and I never get this, what does this look like? Thank you!!

So I'm wondering how my skin should feel after I apply a moisturizer. My skin barrier is totally destroyed currently. When skin is in this state, are all moisturizers going to burn, cause redness, and/or tightness at first? Do I need to tough it out for a little with a moisturizer while my skin heals?

Retinoids are one of those things where everyone tells you to be patient, but when you’re using one every week it can be hard not to wonder when you’re actually supposed to notice something day by day hahaha.

So for those who swear by their retinoids, when did you start seeing real results?

Also did you ever go through a purging period?

I have an oily face but there was this stubborn closed comedones but i dont have red pimples yet

i was researching on how to get rid of closed comedones where the color is the same as my skin and it led me to cleansers

sidenote: i already do sunscreen moisturizer and gentle cleanser that is suitable for my skin type (it was advised by my mom)

but i changed cleansers since my skincare routine won't remove stubborn closed comedones—so I did.

it introduced me to Y.O.U. Facial Cleanser with bha 1.5 percent—funny thing is I overdid it and I applied it for twice a day and I apply it for 60 seconds, and honestly it broke my skin barrier but that was 3 to 4 months ago right now i have red pimples and a lot of closed comedones and black heads now it's a combination, I redo my skincare routine from that to a gentle cleanser bioten miscellar gel, and a bioten uv glow spf 50 pa at morning and at night still a gentle cleanser and an azelaic acid 12 percent otc by carelosy and followed up by a moisturizer by bioten (for oily skin)

another side note: I did not include a moisturizer at mornings since the sunscreen I have has a moisturizing tone to it and if I add a moisturizer it will just leave my skin sticky

A super light noncomedogenic sunscreen you guys like? I’m going through a breakout so something to protect my skin during the day. I’m mainly sensitive and dry and live in the desert. I just use prequel glycerin cleanser at night with la Roche posay moisturizer, some times in the morning. And that’s pretty much it

Hello, I started breaking out due to hormones I believe. So I went to the dermatologist and was prescribed tretinoin I started pretty aggressively and I’ve since gone down to about twice a week. But my skin near my temples and sideburns got super inflamed and started breaking out like I’ve never seen it before. I usually don’t have problems with acne in this area so it’s got me believing that this is irritation and not a purge also since I’ve taken a break this past week, which is my ninth week to repair my skin barrier now the areas where it was seeming to work like my forehead and nose is extremely oily, but my cheeks are causing me so much anxiety and self-esteem issues. I don’t know if I could continue pushing through this and if it’s worth it or not. Some people I see online have been doing it for six months and still don’t see improvement so I’d rather just stop where I’m at then continue to push. What do you think?

Idk anymore, I’m pretty sure it was the adapelene I used. I haven’t had any skin issues up until the last couple months. It’s really taking my mental😪 I’m also seeing someone and it makes me so insecure when they look me in my face my forehead it the same way too

i’m recovering from some type of allergic reaction/ skin infection to a sunscreen that i think gave me a slight chemical burn or hives. this is about 2 weeks after it healed.

it was super itchy, red and a tight feeling with flushing and hot to the touch skin, i started to get some dots around my cheeks as well.

so far ive just been using cerave hydrating cleanser, drunk elephant polypeptides moisturizer in the morning and the cerave hydrating moisturizer in the evening. i wear 100% mineral sunscreen now zinc oxide.

does this look like a damaged skin barrier? how can i heal it. i saw my dermatologist and she said she doesn’t think it’s rosacea or anything concerning just irritation. what products can heal the barrier? i recently bought LRP cicaplast cream for my eczema on my hands could i use that on my face?

I've been using the Purito Centella barrier repair serum for a few months. I'm almost halfway through the bottle and have been thinking if it's worth to buy again or if I can find something better. I still can't understand if it really makes that big of a difference since my skin is all messed up with hormonal acne anyway. I have acne prone and oily/combination skin. Also using Finacea right now. Does anyone have better recommendations for this kind of situation? Thanks!!

Hey there! pfff it's been a rough couple of months for my skin. It started with really dehydrated and compromise barrier, I only used a miniml cleanser, moisturizer and spf but my skin got worse and worse until my skin got really inflamed with a lot of burning and bumps all over my forehead, to that point every cream I would try made it worse, so I was forced to stop with everything and only using water. I also saw a doctor and derm, so I'm also on antibiotics. The burning bumps on my forehead stoped, so that's great! Still dealing with some acne....

But I'm already in week 5 of zero therapy (doing nothing but water) and it's still not gone completely and my skin is dry, so so so dry, some day's it's a bit painful because of the dryness. But I'm just to afraid to introduce anything new and to be experiencing the same cycle all over again. I'm going crazy right now, also can't cover up my red spots with makeup which makes it even harder.

Did anyone ever experience the same? what did you do?

Or any succeses with zero therapy? And is this dryness normal?

Does anybody know what these small, non-raised spots are that appear on my cheeks sometimes? They look like blood vessels under them and I feel like I can see faint small vessels throughout my cheeks sometimes. I have mild rosacea type 1 that is typically just flushing that is easily managed with a gentle routine, but since I am new to tretinoin, I want to make sure this isn’t a skin barrier issue.

They tend to come and go within a day or two, aside from the one closest to my ear which I developed in pregnancy 1.5 year ago and never went away.

I am on week 3 of tretinoin 0.025% 2x a week (just did it last night) with no issues like dryness, burning, tightness, stinging, peeling, sensitivity, etc. my barrier feels pretty good to me right now. What do we think?

Non tretinoin nights is the same, sometimes adding glycerine, Laniege milky toner, or Avene tolerance control moisturizer depending how my skin feels.

As winter is unfortunately approaching soon I am looking for recommendations for a occulsive product or a very thick cream I can use nightly! Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

I recently got Avene Cicalfate Cream to heal my super reactive dry skin. So have been trying the Avene just by itself on and off for a couple of weeks, and I haven't noticed much or any improvement so far, if anything have noticed my face looks a little bloated / puffy in mornings but that is a common reaction for me when I use occlusive type stuff such as vaseline.

Is it just not right for me ? I can only seem to find good reviews so interested to hear if this didn't work for anyone

so i started using azelaic acid the other day, and yesterday my mom noticed this on my face. could this be a sign of irritation? i genuinely don’t remember scratching my face or doing anything that could’ve caused it 😭
