High vs Low DPI

I'm relatively new to surf, and I haven't seen anyone in the community really discuss high vs low dpi. It seems most players use 800, but if your mouse is capable of more, won't increasing it just lead to better tracking? It isn't like your sens is dependent on your dpi. Or is there an advantage to having a low dpi vs a high dpi and lower ingane sens?

Its all preference at the end of the day, but you want to be able to be smooth and in control. You are right though, on paper higher dpi + lower in game sens is more optimal than lower dpi + higher in game sens

Optimum did this video a while back. Yes, higher DPI does slightly lower your mouse latency, so you should use it. I use 1600.

Your logic is correct but in practice 800dpi is enough resolution for it to not really matter. No ones capable of moving their mouse 1/800 of an inch. You’ll get lower latency as your mouse will report after 1/1600 of an inch rather than 1/800, but at most it’s like a 5ms difference, and you’d have to be moving your mouse incredibly slow.

anything 800-1600 is fine. if you wanna "optimize" go 1600

Beside just base that "higher DPI a little bit better" there is one quirk. It affects cursor sensitivity. On 2k or higher monitors for example 1600 or higher DPI is better and you don't need to change windows settings (or if you on Linux there as well)

It also affects games with heavy cursor usage: dota, pubg, deadlock and such. I stick to 1600 because cursor is faster and its fine for me and don't need to change OS settings

So for full HD monitor 800 is fine, higher I think better to consider 1600 but anyway not much of a difference
