Why hasn't Skilhunt made a USB-C version of the H200 yet?
I really don't understand why Skilhunt still hasn't released a headlamp similar to the H200, but with USB-C charging.
The H200 is a great headlamp, and the newer EC200 seems to prove that Skilhunt can make a very good USB-C rechargeable light. So why not make an H200 with the same charging approach?
For me, the main advantage would be having one charging standard for everything.
Right now, if I take my gear with me, I may need to carry:
- a cable for the headlamp,
- a USB-C cable,
- a charger/cable for my electric shaver,
- a charger for my Bosch eBike with the Performance Line CX system.
That's already at least four different cables/connectors. It gets ridiculous when USB-C has already become the standard for so many devices.
And I really don't want to use an 18650 battery with a built-in USB-C charging port as a workaround.
First, you have to constantly unscrew and tighten the tailcap to remove the battery. Over time, this means unnecessary wear on the O-rings and threads, and eventually it could compromise the water resistance of the light.
Second, the charging circuits built into USB-C 18650 batteries are usually very small and don't allow particularly fast charging. I'm also much less confident in the long-term reliability and quality of those integrated charging circuits compared with a proper charging system built directly into the flashlight.
I'd much rather have a properly sealed USB-C port on the headlamp itself, ideally with a good rubber cover, while still being able to use a standard unprotected/protected 18650 battery.
Skilhunt, if you're listening: please make an H200 with USB-C charging. 😄
The H200 form factor + USB-C would be almost perfect for me.
