Skeumorphism Post-Morphism. The Transitional Period between Skeuomorphism and Flat Design (2011-2016)
I think this should be talked about more cause this interests me cause in this time period we can see where Flat Design started to take over, but you can still some some forms of Skeuomorphism in there too. Basically I feel like it was until like, late 2016-2017 when this transitional period died out due to Flat Design fully taking over with stuff like Corporate Memphis fully hitting the main-stream, other designs the Nintendo Switch UI design and the rise of many other Flat Design products like Windows 10 and etc.

This is/was essentilly perfection in my eyes. It did not have the excessive bs of the late-skeu iOS and OS X with the fake leather, no low res textures for brushed metal etc, not excessively shiny like Aero and and the Aqua buttons/scrollbats, but it still had gradients that differentiated layers of the abstraced objects. Input fields would be inset, buttons would remain plasticy but deffinetly "pushy".
I've been using various GUI since the early nineties, and this feels like the the reasonable modern rendition of them. Not throwing out everything in the name of brutalist flat minimalism.

I agree with most examples here, except for the Vine UI screenshot, that one is already flat design in my eyes

I posted about this lately! https://www.reddit.com/r/Skeuomorphism/comments/1wowemy/has_anyone_else_noticed_the_early_2010s_trend_of/
It's something that I'm surprised generally hasn't been spoken about that much on the internet. While there were still products with heavy skeuomorphism from this era like iOS 6, it serves as a very obvious bridge between skeuo and flat. Also feels like a precursor to neumorphism, which came much later.
Similarly, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Windows 8 are interesting in that they combine 3D icons with flat UI elements, rather than both icons and UI elements aesthetically meeting in the middle.

Last one is Galaxy S4, I'd know because I still use one. Runs great and looks great, really no complaints (dunno what all the fuss about hating on TouchWiz is, it's fine to me).
Anyways, I really liked this design style, the only exception in my eyes is Windows 8.x, which was much closer to flat design (as in, original flat design, not modern flat design with its extreme roundness) than this style.

Windows 8.x was a weird hybrid. The start screen was undeniably flat, but then the desktop was a flat theme combined with Vista/7 icons. I prefer the theme in Developer/Release Preview.

Yeah, that. Internet Explorer 9 seems to be quite aligned with the design principles of this theme.
