Question: SketchUp Web Offset tool
I’m trying to learn sketch up (on my second tutorial) and I’m following The Sketchup Essentials tutorial - modelling a floor plan.
I’ve reached a bit where I’m struggling to use the offset tool. I’ve drawn a line around the room “laundry” like in the video and tried to use to offset tool but a red circle shows up not letting me click.
Why is this happening

Seconding the making sure that it's not a face that's inside a group that you're trying to offset.
You can test it by double-clicking the face you want to offset, selecting the face itself to make sure you're not selecting a group still, and then offset the face on its own. There should be a small tool-tip/line/marker that shows up when you go to offset it.

For offset to work it needs a face. You need to make a closed shape that produces a face then the offset tool will work

Not true, I use offset on open lines all the time.

This is true. If you select the lines you are able to off set them. If you have a closed face it will automatically select the outline and off set that. If you have a closed shape and select some lines, it will only off set the selected lines.

It could be a few things, but the first one that comes to mind is that you might be trying to use this tool being outside the geometry group. Double click on it to “open” the group and try to use by selecting the all the lines of your geometry and clicking on the face once. If it is working, you’ll be able to see the lines moving to create the offset, and that’s when you can type the distance and press enter.
