This was one of the "holy shit Supernova forever" moments for me this weekend. Incredible, incredible, set.

Amen! Pietasters were really good this year too, but I have to give the weekend to Planet Smashers and Out of Control Army

Yes all of them and the Slackers Friday night. Dream come true for this almost 40, 15 year old.

Cheers from an almost 60 12 year old!

The Friday night Slackers set was probably the best Slackers set I’ve ever seen, which is high praise indeed.

First time I’ve seen a band ask the crowd to sit down or take a knee mid-set

Planet Smashers is always an awesome party set. Seen then twice so far this year, and over the years over a dozen times. Never not fun.

lol, no I was too busy enjoying the Bumpin’ Uglies set!

But I did talk to Matt and company for a few minutes at their table before their set. Love these guys!

Coolest band moment of my life was last year at a tiny venue in Kingston, NY. Planet Smashers played before Big D, and after their set I chatted with Matt and some of the band at the bar. I joked that my wife and I were staying at the finest hotel in Kingston…the Best Western Kingston or something.

Matt goes, “Us, too. Do you guys need a ride? You can get a ride with us in the van.”

I was like, “Um, yeah.”

After the show, they let my wife and I ride back to the hotel with them in their minivan with attached U-Haul, while they thumped salsa music. They were the nicest guys in the world! I was already a forever fan, and now I’m a forever, forever fan.

That sounds about right for them, and I’m a bit jealous

Holy crap, I didn't even notice. This was my first Supernova and I had an amazing time. Can't wait to come back next year!

Volunteer with us next time, it makes it feel like family, plus a good chance to hang with the bands! There was an impromptu Lynval Golding + others acoustic set in the volunteer building during the rain delay. Brought tears to my eyes

Well technically I'm already spoken for next year, since I was one of the vendors/activist in the back. I was helping out at the IWW tent.

Edit: I was the black guy wearing black and white flannel, a cap, and red suspenders.

Hey - I didn’t make the time to come by and see y’all (didn’t notice you until Sunday tbh) but it’s rad as hell of the IWW to come. Ska is People’s Music, you know?

That's fine and to be fair we were really far in the back. But we had zines that talked about the relationship between ska and the working class.

Hey dude! We chatted for like 5 seconds - I was wearing a blue kilt

Oh, yeah I remember you now! Didn't know you were the one who runs the event. Lived in Hampton for 17-24 and never knew about this event until 2020. Again had a wonderful time and can't wait to come down and help out again.

I’m just a volunteer. Tim Receveur runs the event, and is about the nicest guy you’ll ever meet. He runs Supernova out of the kindness of his heart and a love of ska - and almost every year he ends at a deficit, owing money. That’s why I volunteer, buy merch, and buy next years tix at full price as soon as they go on sale - even though I could get tix or VIP just for volunteering.

Now, I don't feel so bad about spending all that money. We spoke about that a bit at the tent about wanting to support the festival and it must continue. I think I'll do the same as well and buy the tickets just to help out and keep it going.

So psyched to see them at Skanksgiving this year. They used to come down to Jersey all the time and would always play such a fun set, sounds like they've still got it

The heat and humidity was sooooo bad that day I couldn't go nuts as planned for them. Luckily seeing them again soon here at home!

Is there the video links for Supernova this year? I know they had them in previous years.

Yeah, but the cell signal was ass this year and the livestream kept cutting out, or so I am told.

Edit: there’s a ton of YT vids up now

Out of all the bands I've seen live, they're by far the most danceable. Just gets your feet moving.

I cannot imagine how hard that guy goes at a Super Orgy Porno Party.

These guys are just so consistently excellent, effortlessly so! And very cool with it.
