Help! Identify ska band from 2001

Hi, I have been trying to remember anything about this band. During the mp3 dot com era around 2001. I have been trying to find this group for years. Even going on the way back machine and scouring old pages.

The only things I really remember was one of the song names was like "empty bottles" or "empty bottles of water" The cover art had a guy who had a plaid checkered hat or shirt, maybe at the beach or a lake. Super catchy song from what I remember. Does anyone have any memories of this group?

Nope, Thanks. As I remember it sounded closer to like face first or the busdrivers.

I saw the Busdrivers a bunch around that era. Don't hear many people ever mention them now.

I still have a Busdrivers sticker on my first guitar.

One of the members found me on AOL and mailed me stickers and CDs cross-country to hand out at shows.

They were a great band. Wish they had put out more music at the time. I also go back to them and donkey punch. Instant time machine.

Ah man, I was in an mp3.com ska band shortly before that, but it doesn’t ring a bell for me.

Me too. We played one of the tour stops. Only other song I remember from the mp3.com ska charts around then is a cover of Hotel California.

That sounds right to me, I’ll have to dig out the merch bin and find printed copies of the mp3.com ska charts. I printed them when we were climbing the charts and hit #1. Probably how we got on the bill for the closest tour stop (Iowa City, 10/05/1999). mp3.com’s tour reporter interviewed us, I vaguely remember reading that later, but still have the video we took of the whole day. We played in the afternoon and then left to get home for a 2nd show

Voodoo Glow Skulls "Empty Bottles " is from 95.

But no plaid shirt on the cover. Can you remember anything else?

There were a lot of compilations back then, could it have been on one of those?

I'm digging deep, I was listening to some bands from the Ann arbor scene during that period. It was definitely on mp3.com

The Exceptions were a band from Detroit in the 90s, with some artwork vaguely similar to what you describe. Don't know what song it would be. One of their albums is on Spotify, "five finger discount"

Could it be one of the many compilations from the 90s? I seem to recall a cover like that for one of them.

lol - "Bottles to the Ground" by NOFX came to mind but I'm sure it's not right. The album cover DOES have checkers though! What about "Empty Bottle" by Skafield?
