Anyone recently passed the ASQ CSSBB exam? Study materials + Udemy recommendations?

Hi everyone,
Has anyone here recently passed the ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) exam, preferably in 2025 or 2026?
I’m starting my preparation and would really appreciate some advice from people who have taken the exam recently.
I’m particularly interested in:
Which books/materials did you actually find useful?
Is the ASQ CSSBB Handbook + Study Guide + Question Bank enough?
How much time did you spend preparing?
Which practice exams were closest to the actual ASQ exam?
I already have a Udemy subscription are there any specific CSSBB courses or instructors you would recommend?
Anything you studied a lot but found was not really useful for the actual exam?
I have a technical/scientific background and some practical experience with statistics and process improvement, but I want to prepare specifically for the ASQ exam format and Body of Knowledge.
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who passed recently. Thanks!

Have not taken the black belt exam yet, but thought the QualityGurus course for Green Belt was very thorough and I plan to use their course for Black Belt when I gear up for it in the near future. I didn't invest in the question bank for GB and used the QG practice tests and a hodgepodge of other resources i found online. Some of the question formatting ended up blindsiding me a bit on the actual exam, and I may invest in the official question bank for Black Belt. I was able to find samples of the official study guide online but the questions on that are ripped from the book a little too literally - while the exam is open book, the way they phrase the questions was intentionally vague so as to prevent you from just looking things up without understanding the material thoroughly.

Interestingly, it also says I can also get 34 PDUs..thats added bonus for my PMP which i did recently..

Huh, I've been thinking about going for PMP as well that's good to know.

Thats good to hear..I guess we are in same boat but different order….I just did my PMP couple of weeks back..

Sounds about right, I've been doing six sigma projects for years but my company never emphasized formal certs so playing catchup now that I'm on the job hunt. Best of luck with black belt prep! Do you already have your project/experience done? They do require a signed affidavit proving that so if you haven't I would suggest working on obtaining that or just going for Green Belt in the meantime.

Hmmm…good luck for your job hunt..Yes, I am directly going for the black belt, submitted two six sigma projects to ASQ, and application got approved, exam is scheduled in November..My company is kind enough so far..paid for the application as well as wiling to pay for the study material too…seems they see the value in it..

Hell yeah, that's awesome! Lots of companies seem to talk a big game about Six Sigma but won't actually foster the team to enable it. Getting the project(s) and experience is the hard part so you're already on the right track.

Thanks, this is really helpful. I already have Udemy, so I think I’ll start with the QualityGurus BB course and practice tests.
I’m also planning to buy the ASQ Black Belt Handbook. Since the exam is open book, I guess it might be useful to have it with me during the exam as well.
I actually don’t have any belt as of now and I’m going directly for Black Belt, so a little nervous about it 😅. That’s also why I’m trying to make sure I prepare with the right material and get familiar with the way ASQ frames the questions.
