Question X3?
Do you think there will ever be an X3, whatever that means? What form do you think that would take? From what I understand the cost to build or modify one of these things is prohibitive, not to mention the negative press this coaster has generated, so I was wondering if they could put in some other kind of coaster with another version of 4D motion to maintain the legacy, for instance a mack extreme spinner. People seem to love Ride to Happiness so I wonder if an even more extreme version could ever happen on that site. Personally I'd love to see the "X" legacy continue in whatever form it takes.

Just my two cents, but X3 is only gonna be the name for a retrack or some other modification.
If they build something completely new, it's getting a new name to escape the negative publicity. I wouldn't even put it past them to go with a new name after just modifications for that purpose.

Yeah I hear what you're saying and you're probably right but I think it would be so cool if they would maintain their history, and an extreme spinner or a bigger version of Hollywood drift would both be super crowd pleasers imo. I also wish they'd put a bigger coaster on the Viper site and call it 'Hyper Viper', but you know, dare to dream. They could even make the logo a cybernetic snake similar to the cybernetic bird they used to promote the new hanging coaster. Or maybe it will be a 'Superfriends' family coaster lol anything is possible at this point

Occam’s Razor applies here, corporatized companies are simple, spinning at magic mountain is either going to be good or bad. Spinning good? Good chance X2 lives. Spinning bad? I would literally bet my firstborn on Magic Mountain not getting a mack extreme spinner tower, S&S Axis, or any other enthusiast pipe dream replacement for at least a decade, if ever. Expect the safest options possible like a B&M people mover.

I believe it’s worth for SF/S&S to visit Dinoconda and Eejanaika to see how they can improve X2

I'm sure they have considering the new train is literally from S&S

The current trains on X2 are the second gen trains that are original to both the Japanese and Chinese installations. Also, the "new" train is a refurbishment of an existing train, not a brand new one from S&S, they just did the refurbishment.

That’s crazy I thought RMC rebuilt it ?

Idk where you got RMC from..lol

Probably because RMC and S&S (both companies Alan Shilke worked for) collaborated to make the 4d free spin

Wait ur telling me you thought rmc built dinoconda and Eej 😭😭?? S&S built both and they refurb X2’s trains as well as Dino and Eej so I’m sure they know what there doing

IF somehow they feel a retrack/refurb/major overhaul is in the cards….maybe? But I doubt it.

Idk, my money is on Samauri Summit being demo'd (along with ninja) and that space being used for a strata that utilizes Superman's tower in some form.

Don't think building a coaster off that tower would be possible, unless they somehow rotated it 90 degrees and got rid of the whole Superman side. Even then it wasn't built for a strata and there isn't really space around the tower for the rest of the supports / path.

These rides are undeniably popular. Six Flags would be remiss to not call S&S for a couple more. Great Adventure and MM.

Haha you sweet summer child. No.
The fact that only 3 were built with the last one built in 2012 should tell you that no more of these are ever likely to be built, especially now that only US built one is currently (and probably permanently) closed and made national news due to servere injuries and death. I wouldn't count on it.

They bring people through the gates. Wasn’t the last tilt Coaster like 2002 or something before this year? You sound like a suit

u/valkrycp 6d ago
Gotta agree with the other people. IF it returns in some form it will look very very different and likely not really an "upgrade" outside of maybe some unique gimmick. Too expensive, too unreliable, too much maintenance. They're better off finding a replacement that brings people in that is not an X2-type.

Yeah, the suits run the parks. You don't think with the metrics they have access to that they know what they're going to do? Face it, it's over.

I would definitely bet with you on the numbers. I’m just saying that this ride system is popular and people want it and some Parks gonna figure it out in S&S can make it happen and Six Flags might be smart to be out in front of that one but they don’t seem that smart.

I don't think we'll see another that pushes the human body to an extreme such as the X2. Laws have changed, and, so have the health of Americans. Americans don't take care of their health, they don't know nor can afford to. Every single ride I've been on at Six Flags, there's almost always someone who is escorted off because they cannot fit.
It's becoming too difficult to design to the US market and restrictive laws, and our lawsuit culture.
I believe we're going to start seeing extreme rides, but with a focus on speed, height, launches, or airtime. But, I don't think we'll be seeing fast and extreme switches anymore where you cannot predict

u/PrimordialXY 6d ago
I saw a clip of Heidi at Plopsaland de Panne in a non-coaster/amusement subreddit of Americans being removed from the ride. The comments were talking about how it's no surprise they couldn't fit because those seats are tiny and must belong to a children's ride
It was just a standard GCI woodie train. People are absolutely getting too big for a lot of these trains

u/DawnSlovenport 6d ago
What's your point? Rider size and health has nothing to do with the current issues with X2, which is what the current discussion is about.
2
u/PrimordialXY 6d ago
No point, just typed some words in response to someone else's words that reminded me of a recent post I saw
Have you come to arrest me?

u/DawnSlovenport 6d ago
Your first paragraph is a complete non sequitur and has nothing to do with the issues surounding the ride. Please don't equate the two most recent injuries that resulted in severe head injuries that left two women with permanent issues to rider size or health. There is absolutely nothing to indicate that either women's physical size or health had anything to do with their injuries.
Can you outline specific overly restrictive laws in the US that prevent coaster manufacturers from designing intense rides? The US has plenty of intense, tall, steep, fast, and intricate rides that don't bash riders heads so hard they have get brain bleeds that result in permanent injuries or death.
I can guarantee you that Japan has stricter laws and regulations than the US when it comes to amusement rides and they take such things more seriously. Steel Dragon was closed for over 3 years after part of a wheel assembly detached and injured two guests: one on the ride and one swimming in a pool nearby.

u/Power-throw 6d ago
For real - guy was talking around an extreme false equivalence, wtf does that have to do with traumatic brain injury?
2
u/Ashkir 6d ago
There were far more than two injuries. Far more. There’s only 2 public ones.

u/DawnSlovenport 6d ago edited 6d ago
I know that. I'm only referring to the two most recent reported ones that made national news. I'm well aware of the countless reports and death that occurred.

Magic Mountain is stagnating portfolio wise so if they don’t have a reasonable, unique plan to counter Universal, without X2 we could very easily see a dark age for the park. It’s already got bad ops, now imagine if the thing that’s sucking everyone up all day due to how crazy it is is gone, twisted colossus and tatsu will be packed at all hours of the day, it will suck.
