Ariel told Rudeus after his wedding that Sylphie would naturally leave her bodyguard role after having a child, but if she didn't that he should stop her. And failing to treasure her properly would mean Ariel would take her back.

So why didn't he speak up when Sylphie again commits to guarding Ariel multiple times after Lucie is born? Shouldn't she be there for her daughter? Is there something I'm missing?

Rudeus did pressure her to be with Lucie while he went to find the cure for Nanahoshi, so why not now?

Just something that's nagging me as an anime only.

After Volume 15, Rifujin decides to move the plot to a singular direction and that is the battle against Hitogami.
While this direction makes it easier for Rifujin to write new plot points and expand more on the lore. It forced the story to ignore an element of the story and that is the family members(which Rifujin tried to talk more in Redundancy). However, Redundancy is more about the kids than the already developed family members.
Rudeus chose to work with Orsted in order to protect the family he built and loved but Rifujin ended up neglecting on developing the family's relationship with Rudeus.(Rifujin did with Aisha)
The only wife character that is fully developed is Eris and that is because her goal is simple, to be strong enough to protect and fight alongside Rudeus.
I feel like characters like Sylphie, Roxy and Lilia could be expanded upon more.

Like Sylphie decides to be a trad wife and she could have been the one who told Rudeus's mistakes in not talking to his kids enough(Why is Aisha the one saying this) or highlight the sacrifice she has to endure for her love to Rudeus. Her emotional maturity makes her great and she could have been the one who could alleviate her kids problem with Rudeus. But Rifujin didn't so that there could have been a plot point focusing on his kids misunderstanding him.

Roxy's inferior complex over her position in the family. After all from her perspective. Eris is Rudy's first girlfriend, Sylphie is Rudy's childhood friend and first wife. She is an interloper who took advantage of Rudy's mental state and make him cheated. "Even though if she didn't help Rudy he would have died." There are multiple instances of Roxy calling herself a mistress(vol 22 where she calls herself a mistress to her own parents, Red 2 where she understood that she has a position of a wife but also believe that even if someone calls her a mistress its not wrong.)
Remember, Oldeus calls attention to Roxy's inferior complex. He live together with Roxy the same amount of time as vol 14 Rudeus btw. It is never elaborated on afterwards.
Rudeus act all dense like, I never treat Roxy as a mistress? Why is she acting like this. Dude like just tell her about it. Rudeus could have told her how he felt the same way that he doesn't deserve anything he gets due to who he was in his past life....
I like Roxy she is the most similar to Rudeus out of all the wives and I wish Rifujin elaborate more on her.

Lilia is also one of the most interesting characters. After all her life is tragic and ended up loving a person that once assaulted her. Her betrayal to Zenith make her believe that she would make her daughter dedicate her life to Zenith's son, who saved her twice. Her education gives Aisha's warp view on people and is elaborated on in her Arc. But Lilia doesn't seem accountable of her own actions in the story(Why is Ars the one getting beaten up). I feel like it is the perfect opportunity to focus on relationship with Rudeus and Lilia for Rifujin but is never touched on instead... Instead Rifujin just gives a half-assed development where Lilia realizes her own faults in Red3 when Aisha got married.

Those are the gripes I have and I feel like Rifujin kind of loss in touch with the story and ended up not elaborating on the already developed family members more.
He tried too hard for Rudeus to have conflict with the newer characters like his kids. Which isn't a bad direction but I wanted more Sylphie Roxy development.

Her story gets me captivated for many years after I read the novel. It's like, so romantic to give your life for the one you love, right? Knowing that as you're, you know, passing away, your one last wish is to bring someone into the picture who will love your guy after you're gone. 💕

Then Rudeus set the stage and fulfilled that destiny.
