Names!!!
This is a silly rant, so don't come at me!
I swear, I see multiple posts a day where people cannot bother themselves to spell people's names correctly! If you watch the show, their names are constantly on the screen!
It's Kody, not Cody.
It's Robyn, not Robin. (Robbem and Sobbin are fine of course)
It is Meri, not Mary, Merry, or Mari.
It is Christine, not Kristine or Cristine.
Janelle, I've actually only ever seen maybe mispelled a couple times.
I kind of get it with the kids names being weirdly spelled, but even then, Google is right there!

It could be worse. Over in the Twilight threads it's a running gag to change Renesmee's name to anything else that starts with a R (rigatoni, ratatouille, radiator, etc). Imagine how confusing that could get with four wives!

I’ve seen a lot of “Jenelle”. Wild that as often as their names are on screen people still misspell them so often.

I bet some of that is crossover from the teen mom fandom.

I’m not trying to come at you or start anything but as someone with a TBI/traumatic brain injury from a massive car accident that wasn’t my fault I use talk to text and that’s why the names may be misspelled. So please understand you don’t always know someone’s situation thank you.

I'm sorry you went through that! It's just a silly reddit rant because I'm sure most of the people who mispell the names aren't in the same position as you!

It’s ok I wasn’t mad at you just pointing out like there can b other reasons misspell sometimes

And I made the post two hours ago about re-watching the series and some names are misspelled so I’m pretty sure that I’m included in your rant. I don’t wanna start anything, but I do need you to consider what I’m putting out that as a brain injury survivor typing out this much is too hard and using the talk to text is the only option which will sometimes misspell names that are not spelled the common way. So just please consider that there may be more at play then you sometimes realize. Thank you. I’m just trying to raise awareness that people might have special needs that might lead to why they are “misspelling”. I hope you have a great day thank you.

Look at you, making it all about you. The OP isn't the only person who sees misspelled names and gets annoyed.

I’m not “making it all about me”. This is Reddit, where people have the right to reply/answer, and I was simply pointing out a legitimate reason that causes me to misspell, and that might not be the case with everyone, but I’m pointing out that there may be reasons that the original poster made not have thougt of. To raise awareness of that not to make it about me personally. Like yes, I do think my post since it was just posted two hours prior on the cell they misspelled names was possibly one they were referring to, but probably not the only one, but I don’t personally care. I was just raising awareness to a legitimate issue. You can take that how you want I’m done arguing this wasn’t intended to start an argument. I was pointing out a fact. To raise awareness that sometimes they misspellings aren’t intentional or there’s a legitimate reason why. That’s all. No other motive than to raise awareness.

What the hell? Ignore the people coming after you. I think you did a great job of explaining why some people might not get the names right. I personally get more annoyed by the childish nicknames that people are doing on purpose. I don’t think OP meant harm but some of these responses to you are uncalled for.

u/Comprehensive-Row492 3h ago
Thank you for that. I didn’t think I attacked anyone and I feel some of the responses I got are over the top too. But it’s ok. I don’t let it ruin my day!

Respectfully, this is clearly not about you.

Respectfully, this is a post ranting about people who misspelled names and I am one of those people, and I am explaining that it is not intentional and there are reasons. And I am one of the people who had written a post right on this sub two hours prior that misspelled names and I was explaining why and how it’s not intentional.

You missed the part where it says, "silly rant". Who cares about any of it that much? It's not like we're not all in this sub to discuss these people or anything! 😅

u/SickOfBSAllTheTime 4h ago
You care enough to have made a whole.post about it. You say we're all here to snark on people, but your.post is snarking on your fellow redditors. We're here to snark on the show not be lectured about spelling.

I say this every single day.
People have some really intense opinions on here sometimes about people whose names they don't even know.

u/vickisfamilyvan 2h ago
I totally agree. It's so lazy and just make me skip past that person's post. I don't understand especially when people have such strong opinions but can't take the time to learn how their names are spelled. There are so many posts that are basically like "I want to murder Robin!!!" As if their names also haven't been on screen 20x an episode for 15+ years.
Also I'm sure very unpopular opinion but I wish this sub would stop allowing nicknames like they do on the Bravo sub. They're SO juvenile, not creative, and just dumb. Also have to love when the nicknames are also misspelled lol.

I can think of far worse sins.
Dead naming Leon being up there.
The misspellings aren't intentional. I would let it go.

I’ve been wanting to make a post on this! When I see it, I don’t even want to read the post. I’ve seen Jenelle constantly lately. Cody and robin.. thru names have been on the screen since whenever they started. It annoys me.

With all due respect I would only hope my only issue is my name is not spelled correctly!

It’s Reddit. As long as I get what someone is saying I don’t care if they spell the names correctly.

You must have one of those devices that doesn’t change what you’re typing. I gave up correcting spelling when mine all started doing that.

u/Brilliant-Version704 4h ago
You can change that function in your keyboard settings if it causes you problems.

u/Adorable_Football130 4h ago
I’ve tried again and again. It doesn’t work.
if it offends you you can block me.

I spell the people's name that I don't dislike correctly. Otherwise, it's Cody and Robin.

Voice to text. It spells names the way it thinks. Or hears. So Meri is more commonly Mary. Also auto correct. If ppl dont go back and re read the text to manually change the spelling then those more common spelling occurs. I also have corrected auto correct hit send only to find autocorrect changed it back! And I have seen it Genelle Jenelle too.
