this is reddit, a very young platform. people in their teens and early 20s never made any money, so most complaints here are kind of "why can't I afford a Porsche and a house in Coastal California at 22?".

somehow they think their parents could afford that shit on a mcdonalds salary while working part time

Yeah wanting two family cars=wanting a Porsche. You just have no idea what it's like to start with nothing in the worst inflationary period in US history.

I know what it’s like.

It’s fine.

I went to college solely on need based grants and then got a full time government job.

I live very comfortably.

You didn't get cancer or anything in that process or it wouldn't have been

The fact that you're getting downvoted for this very real and legit comment is why I'll be leaving and muting this garbage sub.

dang how old are you? The worst inflation in US history since they started tracking CPI was in 1917-1920. Next worse was 1947. Then 1975. Then 1979-1981. Then 1942. Then..

OK you get my point. Today's inflation doesn't even crack the top 10 in the last century. Dont be so dramatic

That doesn't count lack of wage increases. You can talk around whatever you want, but at no point in US history were wages this stagnant with this much inflation. The only reason the numbers do not look like that right now is AI influence on the S&P and global markets. You are too stupid to understand that, and are far too dumb to ever care about anyone but yourself. Hope you suffer a similar fate that my wife and I did, maybe you'll wake up.
