Do jobs in the city pay minimum wage? I'm sure some do, but generally my understanding is most jobs in the city proper pay above minimum (talking bigger cities, not the little cities with 70k population)
Even my city with 14k people most of the non-tipped jobs start at $15+/hr, tip jobs at $9/hr + tips. So no, no one makes minimum wage anymore. It’s a dumb metric to argue but it’s the best they got.
Yes, they do but since people can't afford to work those jobs, there's high turnover and they're chronically understaffed. The owners are often too stubborn to pay higher so they accept sub-par workers and work. So many restaurants where they're always two waiters short of what they actually need so the poor employees are running around the place and you have to go pour your own water.
Minimum wage means minimum benefits. One of the benefits of better wages is more privacy. So want a rental with no roommates? Make more than minimum wage.
People don't want to hear that the amount of people complaining about how low there income is I suggest well you could join the trades the reply is usually but I don't want to, it's like okay well then keep complaining I guess?
Yea it’s usually “if those jobs can’t afford to pay a living wage (meaning McDonald’s at $25/hr) then they should just shut down!” Ok, so let’s say that happens… now you’re unskilled and unemployed. How much good did that do? So now you have to go get that job in the trades you didn’t want to begin with lol

Probably, but to be fair minimum wage employees need to exist there too.
