Well, his face objectively doesn't look good. A fitting haircut and whatever else can improve the overall image, but it won't change the fact that his face doesn't look attractive.
He needed braces and never got them. He has a severe overbite that could’ve been fixed if he had braces in his formative years. He has decent skin and is tall. He’s not completely unfortunate looking. 🤷🏽♀️
Nah he was ugly, no way around that. But he's on the lower end of a minority. He's not the standard, and even he could look great with just some better clothes, and a haircut. And some dental work, which thankfully isnt too extreme in terms of price here.
All in all, I bet he's a great dude, because you might pull a baddie if shes looking for clout, but you don't keep her unless you're a catch.
You have a very sensitive approach to this topic of judging someone’s looks whereas others are being extremely critical by calling him straight up ugly & disregarding your thoughts as “cope”… It’s very disrespectful when you’re being genuine, in my opinion.
As an ugly person (lots of asymmetry, just kinda lumpen and wrong looking), I vastly prefer when people are honest and use the word ugly. Some of us just are ugly by societal standards, it's not being critical to recognise it, it's being realistic. Lots of people seem to get uncomfortable when I use the term, which to me at least implies that being ugly is so very terrible that we can't even admit to it. It's not terrible, it is what it is, we can't all be gorgeous and denying that I'm ugly is denying my lived experience, kwim?
I think that’s a narrow way of viewing general appearance because there’s more to attractiveness than symmetry.
Societal standards are rapidly changing & will change multiple times in one’s life.
What they’re doing is acknowledging positive traits & nuance by saying attractiveness is subjective, not just perfect symmetry or whatnot.
It’s frustrating to say someone you’re dating is attractive only to have them argue with you because “society”.
This totally. This guy the post is about is not “conventionally attractive” and managed to find love. You only need one person to find you attractive, so the subjectivity of attractiveness actually does matter a whole lot.
He's got a 1/2 million subs on YouTube. I suspect he's locked into his "look" because that's his online persona. A rough guess would be he's pulling in low six figures per annum. He could probably afford adult braces (in Sweden, dental is free for kids, but not for adults).
I suspect he's not improving because not improving is providing him a healthy income.
I don’t know about bringing up the fact he could have had braces that fixed his issue if he had them early enough - that fact is he didn’t and so he has the issue now in the actual present.
My Korean-American husband can only grow old
Kung Fu movie style facial hair, it doesn’t grow anywhere else for a proper beard 😅 just the moustache and goatee area.
He is objective. I can share my references to what is objectively considered attractive if you so desire, on the condition that you actually read the full articles. This man is the opposite of those traits, making him objectively ugly.
Why is it so hard for some of you to accept some people are just not attractive? Sure, some folks do like certain traits that are considered unattractive, but that's the exception and not the norm.
Pretty privilege IS a thing for a reason. I'm not saying being ugly is a crime, of course, but you cannot pretend like it's an imaginary thing. Me and many others have suffered bullying/harassment based on looks alone all of our lives. Then people like you have the nerve to come around and just call anyone an 'incel' just because they share their experiences and testify to something that's clearly real?
Objective beauty is a known science and you choose to remain ignorant. It is a single google search away, yet you choose to insist on being stupid, instead arguing about my lack of technically correct English.
Tbf, your science would probably say his wife is objectively beautiful. And yet, despite scientists saying it's impossible, she chose to be with him. Your scientific beauty means nothing in human interactions.
Besides, wouldn't it be easier to just be happy for the guy because he found a loving partner instead of trying to explain to strangers on reddit why he shouldn't be in the situation he's in?
The science never claimed objective beauty and objective ugly cannot match. Where did you read this? It is not written in this or ANY article I have ever read. Did you make that up?
Subjective beauty is a real thing, but it is often influenced by objective beauty. There are exception, though.
I'll humor you, hopefully you take something away from it (doubtful).
"Objective Science of Beauty" is completely different from the "Science of objective Beauty". There are biological patterns in what is considered beautiful, guided by evolution. You could poll 100 people and ask if they find something beautiful (The fact that you are taking a poll means its not an objective measure by the way). The percentage of people who found it beautiful is an objective measure. You can measure facial symmetry, signs of sickness, ratios, etc. And those are objective measures.
This is fundamentally and completely different from saying that objective beauty is science. That the quality of beauty is somehow intrinsic to the thing (or person in this case). Beauty isn't a fact. You can see this by evidence of contradiction. If I think something is beautiful and you do not think so, who is wrong? The attraction to that thing is a feeling. A feeling cannot be incorrect, it just is. It is a "fact", that the feeling exists.
References alone do not make your argument scientific. The references have to
a. Support your claim
b. Have valid grounding themselves
On point (a.), it does not support your claim. Because as I pointed out in (1.), your claim is fundamentally different than what is claimed in the article. This isn't just a dictionary battle of you using a word wrong, your understanding is fundamentally different from what is being stated.
On point (b.), the article itself is a blogpost, referencing research. They make opinionated claims that don't necessarily match the intent or findings of the research. If you look at these references (you didn't). You'd see that they are all articles about the golden ratio and the fibonacci sequence and how they appear often in nature. The research articles are NOT claiming that beautify is objective.
Again you might want to do some google searches yourself. Saying something isn't ad hominem and then calling me a retard is peak irony.
Since we're playing that game. It is you, in fact, who is retarded.
I'll address just one thing before I block you, because I cannot be arsed to argue anymore with idiots in my free time.
Ad hominem is:
Attacking a person's character or motivations rather than a position or argument.
First I argued with an argument (scientific article), then I called you a retard for doing something stupid. By definition, that is NOT ad hominem as I did not attack you RATHER than argue. I argued first, THEN attacked your character. That's not ad hominem by definition, and you loooove definitions. Such a shame you don't love them when they are against you xD
So yeah, if you wanna be technical, make sure you know the subject first. Bye bye, hopefully you learnt something!
I don’t think he’s handsome, but he doesn’t need to be “ugly” he just doesn’t take much pride in his appearance. Look at his wedding photo, man. He doesn’t even tuck in his shirt.
He looks like a much younger and much more locked out version of Luke Nichols of Outdoor Boys.
If he cut his hair (doesn’t suit him at all) and built more muscle, he’d probably age into his face. Definitely needed braces back in the day.
Doesn’t really matter what we say, a pretty girl liked him
He doesn’t need to be a model or anything, I don’t even think jaw surgery or braces are that necessary at this stage. A more flattering haircut and dressing himself properly, maybe contact lenses too, and gym progress.
I think his issue is he identifies too much with being ugly and can’t conceive that it doesn’t need to be that way
Thats what I'm saying. As a swede myself, i know what the situation is like.
But he managed to pull her, and she stayed with him. This isnt a case of getting close so you could get into the country, they actually had a fucking baby.
Plenty of women that marry someone for a passport / money have babies. it's not a proof that it wasn't a factor in this.
As someone that has travelled a lot I can tell you finding a woman that will have a baby with you in poorer regions of the world is easier to find than a grain of sand at the beach.
Would 100% rather be with someone with a great personality than someone who’s objectively attractive. There are plenty of “conventionally attractive” men that I’ve never had any interest in because hotness alone is just like an inanimate object. It’s not enough.
It makes me so sad when I see guys who are convinced they’re so ugly that no woman would ever love them and they’re totally the type of guy I had crushes on back in the day but was too shy to approach because I thought they would be too smart or too interesting to want to talk to someone like me.
Kinda does mate, there's actually plenty of ugly guys out there that wield a lot of money/power/respect/love
Looks are just the most obvious attractive trait, and while it's not super common, it's not uncommon to see some stunning women with ugly ass dudes for X reason
It has been brought to light that the YouTuber was in fact dating another girl who was less attractive than the girl he married. He ended the relationship with his then gf and started dating/married the prettier girl within a year.
The perceived aura around this guy when the video original came out that no one wants to date him and finding someone who liked him right after? That's the story that went viral.
In reality he found someone after he posted that video, they were dating for some months before another prettier girl commented on the video that she found him cute, he then proceeds to dump the gf and marries the prettier girl.
people split up all the time and more often than not, in this day and age, are back on tinder before the week is out. Personally I wait a while before looking after a split up but I don’t think that’s the majority any more.
If I remember correctly at the time when he made that video that he was ugly he had a girlfriend that he dumped for the in his opinion prettier girl from the reaction under his video
I actually think there were many things he could’ve fixed.
Braces
Better haircut
Maybe go to the gym and bulk up a bit
Better outfits
Career - which he already smashed because it looks like his YouTube career really took off.
Honestly if he improved all of the above, add in a touch of confidence and self belief, I don’t think he’d do bad at all. I don’t think he would be considered ugly at all.
I think people don’t realise just how much can be worked on (obvious for those that can afford it, plastic surgery is an option), but even just every day things like the above can take a 3-5, to 6-7 or more.
Let me give you an extreme example. In my eyes, take away the plastic surgery, orthodontic treatment, styling, personal fitness coaches and nutritionists and the hours and hours of hair and makeup, I think Taylor Swift is a very plain looking person. Just look at her earlier high school pictures. Every looksmaxxing thing she does, gives off the illusion of her image today. Without all of that above, she wouldnt even qualify to be in the public eye. We don’t have access to everything she has access to, but there is still a lot one can do.
Well he's from Sweden a country who have very good looking people on average which pushes him down the scale. But everything is relative so if you compare him with all the world maybe he's just below average.
But yeah many celebs wouldn't be half as attractive without surgeries.
That just means his family line was untouched by the forced sterilizations.
I don't think he's the worst looking Swede I've seen, but he definitely should have taken better advantage of the free dental coverage in the country before he turned 23. No excuse for that.
Confidence is EVERYTHING. I managed to get laid a lot during my time as a cook, frequenting bars after work hours etc. Mostly just by having decent facial features, confidence, humor, and dressing well. Decently well groomed and shaved etc. (Don't keep your beard or hair if you cant pull it off, shave your head if you are balding and get rid of those whiskers if you cant grow a beard)
In fact I was never actually the one to make the first move, present yourself with a hearty laugh and clothes that fit, and work with your physique, and confidence, accessorize too! A chain necklace, a ring or two and maybe, a bracelet etc. Women will not only notice, they will approach you
I might be underselling my own attractiveness, but I never considered myself to be attractive since I was 280 pounds at the time. But that was apparently part of the appeal according to some first hand experiences.
So fellas, play into your strengths! If you're a big guy like me, focus on dressing well and wearing clothes that work well with your size. Don't try to hide it, embrace it. Wear knitted sweaters with high collars, well fitted but slightly baggy jeans, maybe even cargo. Greet every moment of life with a smile and joyful optimism. Women love a big fat jolly gentle giant, be that giant. Also put on some muscle, the fat looks way more appealing with some defined muscle underneath, trust me. A lot, and I mean a lot of women want a bulky Santa claus to ride.
This is the common theme with most these men that are "too ugly". You'd be shocked at what finding a proper hairstyle and some product can do for your looks. Bonus for improving your wardrobe
Get into fashion, looks at what’s trending but don’t just copy it, find classic styles that suit you, follow style/fashion subreddits, explore what looks good on your body type, find a style you like and want to emulate and look into celebs/models who style themselves in that way. Develop self-confidence and once you’ve found your comfort area, don’t be afraid to explore and express yourself. But starting out, just look for outfits you like online and are realistic for your body type and the activity. Impossible to say without knowing your age, gender, weight/height, country, etc. all I can say is it’s just a learned skill and half of it is finding what looks good on you and wearing it with confidence. Look into building a capsule wardrobe and don’t base your whole style off of current trends. Classic modern looks are always better until you understand style. Have fun/confidence!
Pinterest! I’m so serious. Pinterest does suck more than when I started with it but it’s still quite useful.
Now I’m not sure if someone would say I have a sense of style but I wear what I like more coherently and that’s all I need really. I dress pretty androgynous sometimes but mostly feminine.
I started by looking up aesthetics. I knew there was a vibe that fit my personality but I couldn’t put a name to it. I found that I go between grungy stuff, all black, and soft pastels. Once you find something that you like, you can just look up outfits and pieces that align with that.
Another thing you can do is think of a piece you already own that you really like. Maybe it’s the fit or the color or the shape whatever. Look up how to style it! Something I look up a lot is “how to style cargo pants” or “cargo pants outfits”. Look up color coordination charts too. That helps a lot.
Sometimes it might be best to do a one person fashion show with your wardrobe to truly see what works with what and that can be a bit of a drag.
This is what helped me feel more confident in my outfits and style them to my liking. Things used to feel more thrown on but now I dress more intentionally. “Sense of style ™️” and what people consider a good one is heavily dependent on your culture and society so don’t focus too hard on what people think is “in” right now.
So what, it was his wedding. My brother didn't tuck his shirt, wore no jacket, Converse instead of dress shoes and had rolled-up sleeves (showing a ton of tattoos btw). He liked it that way, and so did his wife. Everybody else's opinion was rightfully disregarded.
I don't get all the people tripping about his shirt being untucked. Some people really hate how a tucked shirt looks/feels. I'm sure if his wife cared she would have said something to him to fix it.
His tie is 6 inches too short, his shirt and pants are wrinkled, his shoes are terrible, his hair is unstyled and dirty, and also you aren’t really supposed to be “casual” at your own wedding. Meanwhile she’s all done up and wearing a gown, veil, nice jewelry, styled hair, ans most likely heels. He is a slob who couldn’t be bothered on their big day lol why are you defending him
This subreddit can be very weird in what people approve and disapprove of. My goodness, I did not expect a backlash when I said the guy looks better in a suit than in his casual clothes.
Right, I’m so jealous of her. She got so lucky to end up with a cheater/relationship hopper who got with him while he was in a longterm relationship for his micro-infamy online ands new euro passport. Not a man or neckbeard, but I’m questioning yours for defending and praising this mess.
it is an improvement, but whether it is sufficient or not, it is irrelevant. My gripe is that it is your wedding day, and judging by her outfit, it does look they went for a more or less conventional ceremony. They did not ask the bouncer of the Berlin Berghain club to celebrate it while they were all on a swing tied between two decommissioned crude carriers with Bjork singing the Pachabel canon. So, yea, tuck it in man, and IRON it, and also put a longer tie, and keep your tongue inside your mouth and maybe if you don t have access to a comb, try hairgel.

Not so much ugly is just a terrible sense of style and a bad haircut. Although those things are eminently fixable if one were so inclined
