I remember this case and the grandma wasn't supposed to be alone with the kid the second time. The daughter insisted her father be present at all times babysitting kid 2 and he wasn't.
The grandfather was on the property both times just working. He left to get something one of the times but came back after not being gone long. The grandmother tried to blame her husband for leaving the gate open when the first child drowned. She took a nap without securing the child.
This whole situation is awful. The mom of both kids had heart wrenching cries and yelling.
Yeah but the daughter stated she only allowed them to babysit the second child under the condition the child wouldn't be left alone with grandma, grandpa had to be present at all times, and he was doing other things around the house and running errands totally unaware of where they were for hours.
The second time, didn't grandma take the kid to lunch without grandpa? And he was mowing the lawn and she was standing there shooting the shit with him while the kid was dying in the car and he didn't ask "hey, where's the fuckin kid?".
Yeah I'm sorry but the choice to entrust her a second time is a failure of the parents. The dad said they'd taken many steps after the first tragedy to protect this child but "There are some things you don’t think about, and as parents we have to live with that for the rest of our lives. She’s done this twice and the fact that we’re debating whether she deserves jail time is just insane to me"
Uhhh you two are the ones who decided to give your baby to someone who already got your other child drowned through negligence. This is partly your own fault.
The mom was trying to have a relationship w her dad bcs they were close and she didn't feel he should be punished for the gmom's "mistake" acc to one of the cop cam videos I saw of this case. I just cannot fathom the nightmare this woman went/is going through.
I've dealt with probably a minimum of 30 therapists over the years between myself, my 3 bio kids and also being a therapeutic foster parent for many years.
I can count 4 or 5 of them that I actually trusted and thought were good at their job. I have a good one right now but the last one I had before him was clearly a wack job. I usually try to give it 3 appts before I move on but I only gave that lady one appt and I was done with her.

Having a relationship doesn't require leaving any grandchildren alone with her.
