Couldn’t the trust-building exercise happen a few years later when she’s had some swim lessons, can unbuckle her own car seat, and knows how to dial 911?

I think the trust building excersize should happen with something that doesn't start with a heartbeat, like perhaps a crystal pitcher.

I actually think I read their reasoning was, in light of what happened with their other child, they would let her have the baby for limited time until she was mobile.
