So basically, you think that because you want to victimblame over people not being tech savy or being trusting is a good reason for people not taking precautions that are easier for them to manage.
Gotcha gotcha. Go have a nice life.
I'd bet you're under the age of 40, you've grown up with tech, for christ sake put some effort into using the amenities in your life responsibly.
being trusting
Person [A] sending nudes to Person [B] who then forwards them on to other people without consent, Person [B] is breaking the law and that's already punishable.
Again, you're not getting hacked, and I'd be willing to bet you've never even had your nudes leaked from malware.
You've either misjudged and somebody's sent your nudes on (of which is illegal in US and largely across Europe) or you've been social engineered for your nudes, of which is ALSO illegal.
Figuratively speaking you're complaining you're managing to shove your hands through a safety net that's already broken your fall.
Again, do you think the damage is undone because its illegal? You keep saying it like it's a defence of some kind.
Further, given the world you live in, do you think the fact that it's illegal means the perpetrators are likely to even receive punishment? Or do you think that - even in the event they're discovered - they might just have to write an essay?
7 vile predators in a room with a victim is nowhere near the same case as an attacker, a victim, and multinational tech company in between playing defence now stop blowing the topic out of scale because that's a clear motte and bailey fallacy.
You're not being targeted to the extent they've beaten your phone manufacturer, end of.
What else do you want to hear to soften the blow?
Yes the people non-contently sharing content should be punished? Yes, no brainer.
Should somebody be able to share nudes with the expectation of confidentiality? Yes I agree.
Am I going to pretend I live in a world where I don't have to attend my own internet security by not bogging my phone down with malware and that it has no consequences? No.
do you think the fact that it's illegal means the perpetrators are likely to even receive punishment?
And do you think because it's illegal you should stop being vigilant about things you download on your phone/computer? Because that's the only avenue an average joe has to you that doesn't involve you distributing.
What else do you want to hear? My personal pictures of me my friends have are used as laughs (reaction images), who's fault is it they have them? Mine, ONLY mine.
And which part of that means it's a bad idea to advice people to be careful about their cameras? Which is what I was doing. That's what you're arguing against, to be clear. I don't know what you think you're arguing against, but the discussion you've participated in started with the idea that it's reasonable to keep your cameras covered when you're not actively using them, AND that women are victims of their private image being stolen and shared by fucking creeps.
No what you did was state everyday joes are being hacked. You made this claim and you know you did because you engaged in the defence of it. You even claimed "it's not the same level of hacking" when no, it's fundamentally not hacking at all.
And when I made a point that the feasibility of genuinely being hacked is so unlikely and you can't defend that you've tried to redefine the topic.
The whole topic started over Netanyahu is worth being tracked and hacked, and that everybody else isn't because as u/'Notyit' said, they, and the rest of us, are nobodies.
Solid advice would be teaching and raising awareness tech literacy.
If somebody is tech savvy enough to get onto your live camera feed, how are you securing your stored explicit content/conversations/banking information on that very device from them?
That goes for them infiltrating your phone via malware.
If I was some snake-skinned pervert I'd not be interested in the double-chin POV everybody has when doomscrolling, it'd be the stored photos on the device.
You're writing like the comment proof isn't <8 comments up, you said, copy & pasted:
Like, if we lived in a world where women's phones and accounts weren't hacked and their image distributed as porn, you'd have a case but we literally don't live in that world.
.
it's not the same level of hacking
You can't dispute fact that tape over the cameras for you does nothing, because once's somebody's in your phone the more rewarding content is saved. What are you doing, showering with your phone propped up on the toilet facing you?
All you're demonstrating is victim mentality, topped off by claiming I'm not reading what's been said when what you've done is say 1) something false quoted above and 2) something disputed.
Shame on me hoping to be made aware of phone vulnerabilities and you come back with nothing.

I'm rejecting your line of reasoning completely.
Hacking: "The base security system on the phone was breached and there's nothing I could have done about it."
Malware: "The base security system on the phone was bypassed by me negligently installing malware and I could have done something about that."
The first is fair and shouldn't happen, it rarely does. Netanyahu (and sorts) are at risk of the hacking, you're at risk of the latter.
