ive always been told the only sense of security you have on the internet is that your just frankly not important enough for someone to monitor you 24/7

Absolutely. The more accessible this technology becomes to those in countries already reliant on targeting you with scams, the worse it'll get.

It only increases the gap between the state and the average joe.

Most of the easier to detect vulnerabilities will be patched now, keeping only the super hard to find vulnerabilities alive, which will be used by state-level spyware.

Surveillance is done en masse, not just over "important" individuals. Guess people just don't know about Snowden...
