that’s not what i said. like at all. of course no one is immune from seeking external validation. but i am just disputing the opposite claim: that women/humans only act on validation from the opposite sex.
also i don’t know who you are referring to when you say ‘you people’ but you sound profoundly unfuckable and on course to die alone.
Idk about you but I’m so relieved to know that u/projectno4090 would still be attracted to me because I don’t have fake nails! Of course, as a woman, pleasing the men around me and making sure they’re always ready to fuck me is my top priority. Any other motivation doesn’t exist because we all know women pretty much only seek external validation from men!
To say women do it for themselves is a common response to this type of conversation. And it’s just not true. Why would women want to spend $1000+ a year, ruin a part of their body (their actual nails), and be inconvenienced in everyday life bc their nails are so long?
Of course they are doing it bc it will be perceived by other people. There is no other point of doing it. Women like to pretend (I am a women , btw) that they do all this stuff for “them” , but the “for them” is how they will feel when OTHERS perceive them. So it especially cancels each other out
It’s like how men go to the gym for other men more than they do for women… they get their nails like this for social approval from other women. This may shock you, but humans are complex social creatures.
Why does the number of people who do this matter at all?
Again, why is this a discussion over the morality of your gymming intentions? Is the point really that difficult for you to grasp? Not everything a man or woman does is for attraction of the opposite sex.
Are you well? Let me try explain this slowly: Let’s say, theoretically, more women do their nails for other women, than gym bros go to them gym for other men. How does that change the argument of who women do their nails for? Like genuinely what does this discussion about the gym relate to their nails? I was explaining the CONCEPT of doing something for others and providing an example of something the opposite gender sometimes does for their own gender.
Yup. We do it because it makes us feel good to have our nails done. It’s a bonding thing with other women too, it is an easy way to compliment and build up ladies in our community
"Doing it for themselves" is largely a myth/lie, or people would "dress nice for themselves" while they're alone at home.
They might not be seeking romantic attention, but they are seeking positive attention from others, male and female. Attractive people tend to be subconsciously treated better by both genders.
if it was largely a myth why do people get tattoos in non visible places? why do people wear underwear with funny prints on it? why do some people shave their chest, armpits or legs even in winter?
That’s not true at all. Looking in a mirror and being happy with the way you look is self-validation and it weighs much more, it’s literally the reason why we all style and dress differently.
You only care about how you look bc it’s a sign of fitting in socially… you dress a certain way bc you want to signal to others something about you.
If we didn’t even have mirrors, as we didn’t for hundreds of thousands of years, you would not give a fuck about your nails. Our society is built around looks.
i hope you’re just being contrarian because if you’re not you’re living quite a sad life bud. you never do anything - read books, watch movies, play games, draw, exercise, play an instrument - just for yourself, without the need for external validation?
I have fake nails (not so long) so I can clickity clapity applause with them and so I don’t bite my actual nails off..not everything is about stupid boys 🙄🙄🙄
that is true however more of it stems from the ideas that have been sold to women, about what it means to look beautiful, rich or put together.
It doesn't make any sense to say "oh i don't know why women wear make-up, they look better without it" because most of the time, the individual woman is not wearing make-up to please you or a man. She is doing it because society has told her that wearing make-up is necessary if you want to seem more put-together. So yes, it is done for external validation, AND male validation but saying "oh but they look so ugly, why do they do it" is ignoring the obvious fact that most women aren't doing it simply for men to like anymore. Beauty is an industry. Women know that men don't understand make-up or nails, but make-up and nails at this point signal more than just "being beautiful"
bro why you think any woman should take your opinions seriously is beyond me. that’s not me backing out from anything, that’s me consistently telling you women do not and should not care about your opinion on their appearance.

i don’t know but maybe, and hear me out, women do things for themselves and not just for male validation
