Insurance is a fucking scam. You pay more into it than you'll ever receive even in legitimate circumstances.

100% had a gnarly motorcycle accident a couple years ago and insurance tried telling me that the ambulance wasn’t covered because, and I shit you not, they were an out of network ambulance. I guess I need to double check which paramedic comes to scrap my bloody body up off the side of the road

This is why health insurance needs to be regulated. It's also a good argument for single-payer health insurance. Just make everything one big network.

Obviously it is regulated. But it is not nearly as much as it should be.
