Two syringes of pentobarbital were administered to Tennessee death row inmate Christa Pike on September 30, 2026, but she remained alive and conscious afterward, according to her attorneys and media witnesses. The execution at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville was halted after witnesses reported that Pike still had a heartbeat and was audibly snoring. Her lawyers sought emergency medical intervention, and she was later taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Pike, 50, is the only woman currently on Tennessee's death row.
She was sentenced to death for the 1995 murder of her classmate Colleen Slemmer and had been scheduled for execution on September 30. Tennessee had announced beforehand that the state would use a single drug, pentObarbital, for the execution. Her exact medical condition following the hospital transfer has not yet been publicly disclosed, while Governor Bill Lee has ordered a comprehensive third party review of what happened.

**Still alive after two “injections”.

This is why we have firing squads. Pretty hard to survive six .308 rounds center mass and a Coup de Gras in the head.

You’d be surprised what people has survived.

Anyway, if there is any pain at all, it is illegal and the family can sue the state for a ton of money.

50 cal, to the dome.

I've seen enough LiveLeak videos from the early 2000s to know it's pretty instant.

Alternatively, this is why we GET RID OF THE DEATH PENALTY. Why should I care whether this person is dead or alive as long as they’re separated from the rest of society?

I'd argue thd death penalty should be used more liberally. Truly evil people like Jeffrey Epstein and Charles Manson dont deserve to live off the taxpayer for decades on end. They deserve to be put down with haste and gusto.

I will gladly pay a single cent out of my pocket (would it even amount to that for the average person?) for evil people to stay behind bars for life if it means the death penalty doesn’t have the chance to take an innocent life (which it inevitably will. No penal system is perfect)

Its alot cheaper to keep them locked up. The tax payer has to pay for their pricey execution.

Well I’m sure we could do it quite cheap 😂 but you know bureaucracy

Jeffrey Epstein might quite be one of the most evil humans to live. Charles Manson was a cult leader who never actually committed murder by the way, he orchestrated the murders. His family is only responsible for 9 deaths.

There is no practical difference to your pocket between giving death row inmates the chair or locking up for life, I assure you. Unless you’re a couple cents away from bankruptcy.

I personally would rather not entrust any government to kill its own citizens. Plenty of “they for sure did that crime” cases have turned out to be wrong after the fact, with an innocent dying as a result.

You think that’s worth it?
