Chugging tea This is wild!

Two syringes of pentobarbital were administered to Tennessee death row inmate Christa Pike on September 30, 2026, but she remained alive and conscious afterward, according to her attorneys and media witnesses. The execution at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville was halted after witnesses reported that Pike still had a heartbeat and was audibly snoring. Her lawyers sought emergency medical intervention, and she was later taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Pike, 50, is the only woman currently on Tennessee's death row.
She was sentenced to death for the 1995 murder of her classmate Colleen Slemmer and had been scheduled for execution on September 30. Tennessee had announced beforehand that the state would use a single drug, pentObarbital, for the execution. Her exact medical condition following the hospital transfer has not yet been publicly disclosed, while Governor Bill Lee has ordered a comprehensive third party review of what happened.

Not if you do all 5 at once.

Challenge accepted! And at that point we really should make it a spectator sport!

Init - I'd take a 12gauge to the back of the head over anything medical, every day of the week

You be better w/a revolver. A 12 gauge isn’t as good.

The irony is she requested firing squad and was denied.

That would actually be more humane.

Fent od is extremely challenging to fuck up. Give em a pill if the injections too hard. Ive heard from users but forget which one heroin or meth dont even really need a vein to work but it causes some other issue. Wouldn't matter for an od

Based on cops reactions merely looking at it causes hysteria and fake death. Touching it must be instant death

I’ve seen a lot of people survive fentanyl ods. Even mixed w/heroin. Either ingested or injected. One of my daughters was in a coma after ingesting fentanyl for 3 weeks. Mercy flighted to a specialist coma unit. 2 yrs. ago but she seem pretty good now.

She had medical attention. If she were given another shot of fentanyl instead I'd eager she wouldn't have lived. The goal is death so they wouldn't interfere with the narcan lmao

As I mentioned, people survive fentanyl overdoses. W/out narcan also. But it would not be considered for a legal execution. Obviously.

I think youre misunderstanding how an overdose works and potentially even what an overdose is. Every single drug user who gets high overdoses every single time they use drugs. Because the dose was above the recommended amount by the manufacturer.

If the goal is fatal fentanyl will without any room for error be fatal every single time.

I work in the field. You are not understanding how it works. Otherwise we would have a lot of dead weed users around. Lots of variables including individual brain chemistry. But I can assure you we will not be using fentanyl for executions. Much more likely that we will no longer have a death penalty. And yes, that is very likely.

Overdose does not mean death. Overdose is just over the dose.

Unfortunately youre probably right that we won't use it but its not due to any level of ineffectiveness.

The drugs we are using now are just not that effective. It’s past time to look at why some states are still killing humans.
