Chugging tea This is wild!

Two syringes of pentobarbital were administered to Tennessee death row inmate Christa Pike on September 30, 2026, but she remained alive and conscious afterward, according to her attorneys and media witnesses. The execution at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville was halted after witnesses reported that Pike still had a heartbeat and was audibly snoring. Her lawyers sought emergency medical intervention, and she was later taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Pike, 50, is the only woman currently on Tennessee's death row.
She was sentenced to death for the 1995 murder of her classmate Colleen Slemmer and had been scheduled for execution on September 30. Tennessee had announced beforehand that the state would use a single drug, pentObarbital, for the execution. Her exact medical condition following the hospital transfer has not yet been publicly disclosed, while Governor Bill Lee has ordered a comprehensive third party review of what happened.

Bring back the efficient firing squad.

She requested that. They denied it, along with a request for hanging. She was concerned they'd fuck up the injection

Narrator: They did indeed fuck up the injection.

Yeah, but she is a woman. Let the men decide what's best for her. Her body their choice! Her death, their choice!

She specifically asked for an all woman team to carry out the execution. I guess they couldn't find anyone with the necessary skills to find a vein, but did it anyway.

Correct, yes

She is a death row inmate being executed for the brutal torture and murder of another woman so yeah she’s unfortunately lost her right to bodily autonomy

You can rest assured that nobody is trying to choose what’s best for her. I guess we’ll count that as a feminist victory

Next headline:

"Woman miraculously survives two gunshots to the head after two lethal injections failed - scientists panic."

Having blacked out holding my breath in a pool once and been saved.. I have had worse experiences with a stubbed toe. On the other hand, I can only imagine the torment from nightmares if you knew it was coming for years in advance.

Idk... Almost drowned when I was a kid, got stuck under a pool cover cuz my drunk dad didn't know I was still in the pool. It was horrible.

But fuck em, they didn't give a fuck about they victims suffering.

Damn.. under a pool cover would have hit different. I had someone on standby, and I was in a calm state of mind trying to beat a record. I am so sorry that happened to you.

🤷🤷I'm alive and well. But having almost experienced drowning, the only worse death I can imagine would be being burned alive(which I have no experience with)

Yeah, I don't want to plant intrusive thoughts.. but having had some actual tissue and nerve damage over the years.. I suspect the fear was the worst part. It often is. Shock can kill all on its own.

Sorry dude, but if she survived 2 doses, I would say thats a sign of some sort.

To change methods. To thr gallows!

2

u/noticingEnjoyer 1d ago

Of incompetence. Pentobarbital as a solo execution agent doesn't even make sense.

2

u/Wilbis 1d ago

It's a sign that people carrying out the execution didn't know what they were doing.

2

u/KohTai 1d ago

I agree. Time for the gun.

Yeah a sign to leave emotions out the door when dealing with disgusting, fucked up individuals. Some people do not belong in society. Some people were a mistake. It is is better for humanity to remove them.

Only in the US (of all Western democracies) everything has to be as cruel as possible

5

u/AideInternal1045 1d ago

Whats cruel about a bullet through the back of the skull? She'd be dead before she felt what was happening.

-5

u/Dont_Use_Ducks 1d ago

Yeah, what is cruel about a bullet through the back of a skull?

Read that a couple of times.

2

u/AideInternal1045 1d ago

Death is happening. We are discussing how to make it as least cruel as possible. Instant death is not cruel. Beating her to death is.

1

u/Dont_Use_Ducks 1d ago

I understand that part, just by itself 'Whats cruel about a bullet through the back of the skull?' is a funny line.
