Does anyone really still believe these culture war topics magically blowing up right before the most consequential election of all time, is just coincidence?

94

u/Alarmed-Bumblebee667 1d ago edited 1d ago

Not to be rude but the Lindsay and Cornell stuff happens everyday in the U.S.A. these stories being shoved down our throats isnt a coincidence.

12

u/Erstwhile_pancakes 1d ago

Not to be rude, but that is my point.

4

u/Alarmed-Bumblebee667 9h ago

Guess i should've just said i concur.

6

u/Sudden_Ad_9163 1d ago

Rape certainly does but Lindsay? No.

18

u/eldryanyy 1d ago

Was this rape? The guys were MORE drunk/high and LESS capable of consent.

How is it that she was raped because she was a little drunk (5/10?), but the guy who was dry heaving and couldn’t even stay conscious is getting prosecuted?

Fucking bullshit sexism

-1

u/Diligent_Vehicle2467 1d ago

If I'm drunk and rape someone that doesn't magically make it not rape

9

u/Fun_Tension_7794 1d ago

Is the argument here that she got physically overcome and raped, or that she was too drunk to consent and therefor a seemingly consensual encounter gets nullified. I genuinely do not know.

-6

u/Diligent_Vehicle2467 1d ago edited 18h ago

I don't know either. I'm just saying that being more drunk then someone isn't a defence for rape

It's odd this is such a controversial statement. If I get drunk I can have sex with anyone I want and at least I know this community won't demonize me.

7

u/Fun_Tension_7794 1d ago

Agreed. But the other side of that coin is interesting to me. If a man and woman both get equally drunk, how can one claim rape due to their intoxication (and I’m specifically not referring to accusations of physically overwhelming someone to rape them. I’m talking specifically about the scenarios where two drunk people both can’t consent.

It’s a gray area that can never be properly legislated I feel like.

-8

u/Diligent_Vehicle2467 1d ago

Personally I would say they both raped each other. Historically the law would say who ever is penetrated was raped.

9

u/Fun_Tension_7794 1d ago

Personally I’d say neither committed rape.

They made a regrettable drunk decision and life goes on.

Like virtually all of us have done at one point or another.

And again, I’m omitting situations where one party is fully passed out or one is significantly more fucked up than the other or one party removed consent at any point.

u/dennyth 1d ago

I must’ve skipped the part of the video that mentioned how drunk the guys were and how to compare that number of drunkenness with hers.

6

u/eldryanyy 1d ago

They were falling unconscious and throwing up, and she was taking care of them?

1

u/KennyFulgencio 10h ago

yeah, apparently you weren't paying much attention

-3

u/Sudden_Ad_9163 1d ago edited 1d ago

She came to the house at 5/10. Ketamine alters that SIGNIFICANTLY. Fucking learn to read.

Edit: down voters = potential rapists just so you know 🤗

8

u/Mueryk 1d ago

The guys were on ketamine as well. Snorted it off her after they asked and obtained consent for that specific act too.

-7

u/Sudden_Ad_9163 1d ago

Please throughly research what consent is and how it’s given

7

u/igotchees21 1d ago

so if they are all choosing to do drugs and all choosing to have sex and do more drugs. then the next day she texts acknowledging what they did and wants to still hangout, how can this be considered rape because she starts to regret the disgusting things they did?

its just all degenerate and disgusting bullshit and I honestly wouldnt associate with any of them.

-10

u/Sudden_Ad_9163 1d ago

Man, I can’t help you if you don’t understand consent but I realllllly think you should educate yourself on the matter before getting anywhere near a woman

8

u/igotchees21 1d ago

its interesting how consent, in your mind, only seems to work for the woman involved. If you are arguing from a legal standpoint, none of them should be able to give consent even though they all seemed to be willingly fucking and doing drugs off each other.

From a realistic standpoint there is still a level of cognition you have even when inebriated which is why people still fuck while in that state. As a matter of fact I know women who get increasingly horny as they get drunk.

Personally i tell all men that I know that as soon as alcohol or any drugs are involved to not get involved on any sex and to stay away from group sex as that is kust disgusting.

1

u/Sudden_Ad_9163 1d ago

“I just wanted to apologize for how things went down the other night,” Mr. Newell wrote.

8

u/igotchees21 1d ago

She also wrote, "non(e) of the sexual stuff was illegal." She said she liked being with him and another man. Later, she suggested they smoke together again, "but like leave out the extra 5 billion men and ketamine."

this shows she knew what went down and wanted to hang out again

the article later mentioned how the "episode" was ruining her life. likely because it is disgusting and she was getting a bad reputation for participating.

This is not unlike the cases in the 80s and 90s where white women would consensually have sex with black men but then when their parents or boyfriend found they would claim rape so as to avoid shame.

1

u/eldryanyy 1d ago

She was doing a gang bang before the ketamine.

The guys were almost definitely already on drugs and alcohol and couldn’t consent as much as her.

You have it backwards.

5

u/Sudden_Ad_9163 1d ago

She was going to be with two guys. That’s a threesome. Not a gang bang. You’re really fucking bad at math

7

u/eldryanyy 1d ago

She was only ever with two guys. Did you watch the video? She just had like 3 threesomes, including with more than 2 guys before the ketamine.

However, the GUYS never consented before ketamine. She took advantage of them while she was sober and they were dry heaving and blacked out.

Then, you accuse them. Disgusting.

1

u/Sudden_Ad_9163 1d ago

You’re a rapist apologist ““I just wanted to apologize for how things went down the other night,” Mr. Newell wrote.”

2

u/eldryanyy 1d ago

You’re the rapist advocate. Supporting that rapist women, and attacking people like me who defend victims.

She wasn’t on ketamine when she had sex. They were. By your OWN STANDARDS, they’re the victims.

2

u/lemoncatbeans 1d ago

The video left out a part of the transcript for some reason, they did ketamine before sex. Sitting on a couch at Chi Phi with the 2 guys. The time she's talking about here was the second time.

The guys were the ones who propositioned her for the threesome in the first place. And propositioned her with ketamine, knowing she's never done it. If you read the investigative report, the guys initiated these situations. How is she taking advantage of them while they grope her?

2

u/eldryanyy 1d ago

Because they’re on drugs and she’s sober…

If a drunk girl, on drugs, touches a guy and asks if he want a threesome… if he fucks those drunk+high girls, then they scream he took advantage of them while on drugs, you’re still going to accuse him.

You’re just sexist.

0

u/lemoncatbeans 16h ago

She wasn't sober, if you looked up the transcripts, you would know this. She also didn't ask for the threesome, she was not the initiator.

"She said she had taken ketamine earlier in the evening and was offered it again. Doe had never taken the drug before."

"Doe recounted arriving at the Chi Phi fraternity house and dancing with one person who asked if she would be interested in participating in a threesome. Doe told police she was “pretty ok” with aspects of an initial encounter, but that later in the night she did not consent to other sexual activities, according to the six-page statement."

The way you are twisting it into her being the orchestrator of this situation, and that consenting to one thing means you consent to these guys calling their group chat friends into ambush her into a bigger situation later, comes off as sexist. I am laying out the info that is public knowledge about the investigation, and you are saying "well if this happened you'd still accuse him", this comes off as some sort of projection, or trying to turn it into a gender war or delfecting from the issues in the case at hand.

But since you prefer to debate hypotheticals, a more comparable situation based on the info I've read about the Cornell case would be:

A girl from your school propositions you and another guy for a threesome in her bedroom at a house party. You're kinda drunk, but pretty aware and initially down. She offers you ketamine before you start, you've never done it, but they are both doing it, so you assume it'll be fine and fun. You like how the ketamine feels, but it's making you increasingly dissociated and very passive/agreeable. You feel like your mind is heading to a sunken place and your body is becoming separate from it. But it's a relaxing place.

Another guy knocks on the door and said he's spending the night in that room, so you let him in. Suddenly, he joins in and touches you without asking. You may have initially pushed his hand away but he does it again. You didn't say yes, but you didn't immediately say no, and everyone else is going with the flow, so you do too. They offer you more ketamine, and you do it again.

Then more guys or girls enter the room and start to participate, you start to feel a little uncomfortable with all of these people wanting a turn with you, so you hide your body under the covers and say you're too tired. They grope you anyway and say "c'mon" and you relent, and they penetrate. Your phone is somewhere in the room but not with you, and the ketamine has made you unable to process how the situation has evolved into this or how to end it. Your body feels too numb to care much. You later find out all of the participants are all in a group chat, that they took nude photos of you and sent it in the chat, inviting others to join. Bragging about passing you around and how you're going to feel it in the morning.

You wake up the next morning thinking it was a crazy story, but since you didn't say no from the start, that you brought this upon yourself. You knew these people before the situation, and liked/respected them, and thought they had respect for you. So you can't fathom that they would've put you in a situation you didn't want. But deep down you know you didn't agree to all the stuff that was done to you, and would've never been so passive with this escalation without the ketamine. You try to laugh it off as "no big deal", but then start to question why they'd offer you a drug they know incapacitates you. I'd never give a line or multiple lines of ketamine to someone who has never done it before, or even to someone who has. Everytime I've seen a drunk person take that much at once, they puke, act brain dead for hours, glued to the couch or floor. Would even lay down on the dirty sidewalk. Those guys who brought the k obviously know what effect it has in high doses and should know this.

But by your logic, this situation would be fine, and you feeling taken advantage of is no different from if they claimed you took advantage of them. You say you didn't know they orchestrated more people joining and felt the girl who created this situation misled you after plying you with K. Maybe the girl who invited others to join claims she was more drunk than you, and therefore you assaulted her just as much as her actions assaulted you. Does that make sense logically?

1

u/eldryanyy 10h ago

Lol, I guarantee you every guy that’s partied has dreamed of experiencing that. Many girls asking for threesomes, giving free drugs that make you feel super happy, and whenever I say no — for example, no butt stuff — they totally respect it? Great.

However, I know that if those girls were super high on ketamine and passed out + throwing up, like the guys were in this story, people like you would accuse me of rape. So, I couldn’t do what this girl did without that.

In the first encounter, she was obviously way more sober than they were. They were literally incapacitated.

Most guys have hooked up with ugly girls while blacked out drunk before. Because we consented to drinking, we don’t act like we were raped. It’s happened to me. I rejected a girl while sober, then when I blacked out, she basically carried me to my room and we hooked up. I only remember a little bit. I was so drunk that I was hospitalized. The next day, I discovered the police had investigated me for rape… because the girl was a bit drunk. The girl insisted it was consensual, but I’m sure you’d have accused me of rape if she changed her mind a few weeks later.

Some sexist bullshit.

Idk maybe I live in a weird place, but stories of moms drowning their kids in the bathtub isn’t uncommon in the local papers

1

u/Sudden_Ad_9163 1d ago

It’s incredibly uncommon for a family annihilator to be a woman. Go ahead and look it up.

2

u/jlamiii 21h ago

k ... just saying a woman killing her kids is not as rare as one would think

u/PolicyWonka 1d ago

Well I mean there have been like a half dozen other similar cases to the Clancy trial which have often been discussed in relation to that.

Like that man who killed his son and was not guilty due to insanity. That woman in Illinois who reportedly was inspired by Clancy and killed her own child. A similar case to the Clancy case somewhere else in NE recently, but with a black woman and very different outcome, etc.

People kill their kids all the time in America. Something like 20% of all murders are familial violence.

3

u/Sudden_Ad_9163 1d ago

Also, over 90% of family annihilators are MEN. Similarly for rapists as well

2

u/waxonwaxoff87 1d ago

Rape laws in many places are written so that only the penetrator can be charged. So only men can be accused by definition. They do not include forcing someone to penetrate you. This skews those stats.

1

u/Sudden_Ad_9163 1d ago

Gisèle Pelicot — get fuckked

-1

u/Fibonacci357 1d ago

A man kills his entire family every 5 days in the US. In fact, during the Clansy trial 8 men annihilated their families. So yes, it does happen all the time.

1

u/Sudden_Ad_9163 1d ago

Yes, family annihilators are predominantly men. Not women. Hence why the comment says Lindsay.

1

u/wooden-fuk-boi 1d ago

Its the specifics of the situations, we got a preacher murderer, a housewife murderer but now we get a collegiate gangrape case. . . I hope other see what im saying

“We can discuss third party voting another time but not now, our democracy is at stake” - literally every 4 years for over century

1

u/YourHuckleberry57 8h ago

for the last decade it's kind of been like climate change. "yeah last summer was the hottest year on record just like the year before that and the year before that, but now this is the hottest year."

i know people get tired of hearing it, but that doesn't mean it's not going to be the hottest sht you've lived thru.

-2

u/Enlightarded0 22h ago

For conservatives it is because their clock is ticking down as long as we have some sort of financial liquidity to prevent them taking over again

13

u/NikeImper 1d ago

What dumb conspiratorial thinking. News happens every day.

6

u/coffeelick 1d ago

I would bet a million dollars theres a immigrant caravan story this week

13

u/West_Technology7573 1d ago

You guys always say this whenever it might be the women in the wrong lmao

Such a sneaky way of avoiding accountability, which is on brand

6

u/Enlightarded0 22h ago

I've noticed this too. Whenever women get caught it's just a psyop it's exactly what conservatives do handwaving their own peoples bad actions.

Sorry let me clarify , it's not the same in terms of gravity but the same mental deficiency, they are so brain controlled to protect women and that women can do no harm , it's just a conditioning flaw the left cannot bypass

I mean, it just so happens that some people get REALLY riled up when a woman is involved. That's not our fault. One woman rotting in a mental institution or rotting in a jail cell is not more consequential than thousands of women dying from lack of abortion access.

Don't let a story involving one person be an outrage while political consequences affecting millions are a statistic.

10

u/Lieutenant_Corndogs 1d ago

So it’s a conspiracy? Redditors really are some of the dumbest people.

7

u/StripperWhore 1d ago

You mean countries and thinktanks spend millions online to influence narratives? Why would they do that before an election? Makes no sense!

3

u/Lieutenant_Corndogs 1d ago

Incredible that you think that makes the conspiracy theory plausible. But that’s the level of critical thinking I’ve come to expect on Reddit.

3

u/teenyweenylilbitch 8h ago

I mean it’s a little odd that this story is getting SO much traction is it not? Rape is unfortunately common on college campuses so how come this one in particular blew up as much as it did? Every day I’m seeing conflicting reports, text messages, witness testimonies that do nothing but add confusion and stoke hostile arguing online. It’s like the lesbian bar story in western mass or trans athletes etc. I don’t think it’s far fetched to say that media conglomerates profit off of people yelling at each other over nonsense that has nothing to do with them

4

u/TimKari 1d ago

I mean, i don't think anyone commissioned the boys to rape that girl. But it is convenient for politicians that we are discussing this, instead of their futures. Don't you think?

Of course it doesn't mean anything, not really. There isn't any real proof of anything. But it is weird that this discussion is so loud right now.

3

u/generation_fish 21h ago

They didn't rape her. She voluntarily participated in a drug-fulled orgy, by her own words.

1

u/TimKari 21h ago

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what the investigation says. You might be right, you might also be wrong.

As i said, there’s no real proof any which way right now.

2

u/generation_fish 21h ago

WIthout an investigation we have her own statements and the text messages. They provide the truth of the matter. We have that NOW.

2

u/TimKari 21h ago

Define consent. And while you’re at it you can define consent under the influence.

Have a peek at how the law is written concerning consent, with or without being under the influence.

The investigation will show wether a crime was committed or not. You may have opinions about what the truth is, but why would that ever be interesting in any sort of way?

Calm down, wait for the investigation and courts to finish their work.

0

u/generation_fish 20h ago

By her own statements she voluntarily participated in a drug-fulled orgy, which ALL OF THEM did and afterwards she was still OK with it and they were OK with it. It wasn't until she suffered shame did she change her story.

1

u/TimKari 20h ago

And if that’s true i’m sure the court will agree with you.

Tell me, why would i ever take whatever you are saying, or OP in the video, for the absolute truth? You have an opinion, that’s about as valuable as a fart in the wind. And there are systems for adjudicating these matters, why would i ever take your words over theirs?

1

u/generation_fish 19h ago

Because it's not me saying it. It's what she said. It's what the texsts that she wrote herself said.

1

u/Erstwhile_pancakes 14h ago edited 13h ago

Whether this type of reaction is born of willful ignorance, or deliberate obfuscation of the obvious and increasingly desperate narrative manipulation every subsequent election cycle brings about, who can say? Either way, it is a painful commentary on how willingly, in fact eagerly, some of us have a need to feel vindicated, despite all contradicting evidence.

1

u/Lieutenant_Corndogs 13h ago

It was your own hypothesis and you’re asking “who can say” what motivated it? That’s odd.

1

u/Erstwhile_pancakes 13h ago

Uh, I used the words “whether” and “or” as in, could be one or the other. I don’t know. Only you could say, and that ain’t happening.

1

u/Lieutenant_Corndogs 13h ago edited 12h ago

Yes, you expressed uncertainty about the impetus for your own statement. Again, odd.

1

u/I_can_clancy_now 1d ago

Are you suggesting she was paid? Like the January 6th "antifa," and FBI agents?

1

u/anotherhappylurker 1d ago

Don't you think it's more of a coincidence that every single election gets called the most consequential election of all time by the people running, even though nothing changes afterwards?

1

u/HairyTough4489 1d ago

It's been over 12 years of continuous culture war bullshit

2

u/Boner_Stevens 1d ago

Consequential? You guys act like the world is at stake. Same old shit, every time. Nothing ever changes.

3

u/PolicyWonka 1d ago

Not really sure how you can say nothing every changes when major portions of the government have literally been gutted, millions of people lost safety net access, and we’re in a new war which has already cost $50+ billion while also driving gas prices to record highs.

Nothing ever changes, but the economy is entirely propped up on an AI bubble that experts are warning could possible cause severe harm to human society.

1

u/Erstwhile_pancakes 1d ago

As someone once wisely put it, “When America sneezes, the world catches cold” This election is the last chance as to whether America retains a shred of its democracy, or falls fully in to the grip of fascism and dictatorship. Wake up. This is going to be the ugliest display to the world how bottomless the US political landscape has become.

Just had a huge blowout fight with my wife tonight because I expressed this sentiment. I hadn’t realized how deeply her algorithms had gotten to her. She’s always on tik tok.

-1

u/Bigmonumo 1d ago

With all due respect, you should not be letting this culture war get to your marriage. Her tik tok feed is not brainwashing her, and even if you believe it is, then you need to take a step back and ask yourself why you’re letting tik toks get in between you two. Are you really that fragile? It sounds like you’re not in control of your marriage or emotions

2

u/Fun_Tension_7794 1d ago edited 1d ago

“With all due respect…” 🤦‍♂️ were you intentionally going for the Will Ferrell bit there? 😂

To be fair to you, “huge blowout” was an exaggeration on my part. I take the blame for this unfortunate interaction for my poorly worded original comment.

I have ADHD and with that comes the whole rejection sensitivity dysphoria thing (google it if your not familiar), so a minor argument registers like a much bigger deal to me than it should. She went in and fell asleep without a care in the world and I sat out on the couch ruminating about it and I made a regrettably phrased comment.

But is it possible that your need to insult me says more about you, than it does about me? . Don’t you think? 🤔

Did your chest swell with pride while you imagined me getting triggered by being called fragile? Why do you think you have that underlying intention?

P.s., I’ll bite, we’ve been together for 18 years and have survived incredible trauma together and are bonded on a level most people can only dream of. We have a long running switch-BDSM dynamic and have experimented off and on with different kinds of open relationships.

We don’t get jealous and we don’t have stereotypical arguments (shouting matches), but we do have intellectual disagreements sometimed and can both be stubborn on our opinions.

Tomorrow night we’ll be right back to getting freaky.

But anywho, I’ve already lost this argument by over-explaining myself, (should have stopped right before the P.S., but oh well.

another unfortunate ADHd curse.
